Description: Hoa Vien, the first & only restaurant that serves the world’s famous Pilsner Urquell draught beer - imported from Czech Republic (1995). As time goes by, Hoa Vien restaurant has acquired significant knowledge and experience in the field of food & beverage and has become a familiar venue for both Vietnamese & foreigners and beer-loving people. It would probably be impossible for us to be in our place today without the enthusiastic support from many customers & friends; especially the continual aid from the Czech Embassy in Vietnam and the Plzen brewery.Collaboration with Pivo Praha, Lukr Ingeneering Company, Beer & Malt of Czech Republic… Hoa Vien has successfully built up the brewery system inside the restaurant - applying Pilsen traditional brewery technology. Saigon Hoa Vien brewery restaurant was opened in 2001 & has been the first brewery restaurant model in Viet Nam. In Hanoi, over 10 years in operation, Hanoi Hoa Vien jubilantly opens its new venue in April 2007, with an area of over 1200m2, located right in the centre of Hanoi, constructed and decorated with the distinctive style & architecture of Europe - just 600m away from the City Opera House and the Hilton Hotel. Constructions & decorations at both restaurants gather our full interest & ultimately meticulous investment. Talented architects have decorated the building with wood & copper harmoniously with antiquity – we offer you the feeling of going back to ancient restaurants in Bohemia at beginning of the last century. Brass kettles are connected by a pipeline system to brewery equipment – installed inside the restaurant. Here, you can look at the continuous stages of the brewery process in reality & in a completely brand-new atmosphere. You can inspect every malt grain from famous Bohemia, gaze at hop flowers from Saatz (Zatec), enjoy young beer with a fascinating flavour in the brewery cellar. Besides quality requirements for input materials (malt, hop, yeast…) required in Technology-Transfer Agreement by our partner in Czech Republic, ante-brew water treatment is done with special filtering technology. Accompanied by these strict requirements, there are technology regulations for the Pilsen traditional brewery process - complied by experienced experts from the Czech Republic working at Hoa Vien everyday. All of the above factors are for the purpose of ensuring the ultimate constant quality of Hoa Vien beer. And for the first time in Vietnam, guests themselves can fill up their fresh beer glasses by beer taps - which are directly connected from beer-tanks in the cellar to drinking tables. This is a new & very special feature of Hoa Vien restaurant… HoaVien Brauhaus is the first brewery restaurant model in Vietnam, with the purpose of bringing high-quality beer to our distinguished guests, creating cultural/food/drinks exchange opportunities to propagate the concept about the Czech Republic’s brewery tradition - one of the greatest prides of the Czech people. Our purpose also includes the multiplication for this model in Vietnam; we are willing to support and offer necessary training for businessmen wishing to reach this model. These years, we have consulted & provided relevant information regarding designs, contrustions, equipment, installations, operations & technology transfers to many customers in Vietnam. The style & operation networks are administered by well-trained & experienced experts. Hoa Vien make sure of offering excellent services & constant quality at a reasonable price for guests’ ultimate satisfaction; creating new job opportunities & a stable working environment for restaurant staff. That target is the lode-star for our success.

“Feels good, tastes good and good service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2013 via mobile

Went as a couple around 4pm on a Tuesday. Met at door and directed to a good spot. They opened the windows next to us without asking ( great - it was a sweaty day). Food menu has plenty to choose from and tasted good. Beer good (a respite from boring production lagers available across Vietnam). Atmosphere pretty authentic for a european beerhall. Altogether a visit that was well worth it.
On the down side smoking was allowed everywhere as far as we can tell which is pretty backward on most standards.

“big beers and lots of food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 17, 2013

The Hoa Vien Brauhaus serves Czech beer on tap and lots of it. There are big glasses, big containers for drawing. The food is not expensive but there is a lot of food and it tastes good with the beer. The pork roasted joint was huge and came with good mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. The fried pancake was a lot of food for a side dish. Service is a little slow but the place is big and an interesting change from Vietnamese places. It is fun for a group and good value.

“Fun atmosphere... excellent beer!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2012

I share the views of previous reviewers that the service at Hoa Vien leaves something to be desired. On a recent visit, I nearly had to grab the mobile phones out of the hands of staff to get their attention to take my order. Some other staff, however, were friendly and attentive.

On all other counts, I give this place high marks. Food is reasonably good for pub grub (they offer a good selection of European and Vietnames foods; on a recent visit, I had Vietnamese crab spring rolls that were very tasty).

The Czech-style beer, brewed on-site, is excellent. I usually opt for the lager, which is smooth, perfectly balanced, fresh and frothy, and has outstanding flavour. Many drinkers prefer the dark beer, the malt of which is a little over-roasted for my taste, but obviously popular with many. Prices (approximately US$2 for a half liter of draft) are very reasonable for the quality of brew.

The cavernous beer hall has many nooks and crannies, adorned with old bottles, signs, posters, historical photos and memorabilia that will be of interest to beer lovers. Tables and chairs are solid wood -- not particularly comfortable, but very functional and appropriate for such a place, adding character and authenticity. This is a place for fun; people don't come to Hoa Vien for the food, but rather for celebrating, drinking and cheerful (and sometimes boisterous) chatter. On busy nights, the place can get noisy, but it's possible to find quieter corners for more serious discussions or relaxed outings; just ask the sometimes-cooperative staff to seat you away from noisy groups.

I highly recommend Hoa Vien Brauhaus, especially if you're with a group in a celebratory mood and/or if you appreciate good beer!

“Get that real atmosphere!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 19, 2012

A bit raucous - yes. It's not the place for a romantic tete-a-tete. This is where real men drink real beer and make real noise. Sort of German cuisine, Czech beer. Note the taps in the wall with digital beer counters!! Amazing. You are free to drink exactly 2.73 litres. Good party room upstairs - we used it many times. Smaller rooms also available. But the main fun is on the groundfloor or on the terrace in front. Bring earplugs!

“a nice place to get a taste of the Vietnamese beer gatherings”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2012

It's a Czech style beer place with great food (both Vietnamese and Czech) and beer.

It's not a place for one person or a romantic dinner with your date. It's loud and cheerful and you will hear all the "Mot, hai, ba!" toasts all the time. Prepare to get loud (otherwise you won't hear each other)!
