We had a surprisingly great day here.. Went on a Sunday and it was raining the whole time we were there but it was still fantastic fun. Black slide is definitely the best, but all the others are pretty good too. Food wasn't great, maybe take some snacks with you. Costs 150,000D to get in but it was worth it. Get ready to feel like a little kid again!

Fisrtly, DO NOT pay more than 100,000 dong to get there in a taxi from the Old Quarter. A metered taxi will not cost more than that so don't let a non-metered ride rip you off.

Once you've got your tickets (1 adult, 1 child cost me 195,000dong) go throught to the park, you then have to pay 80,000 for a locker, but you get back 50,000 when you return your key. Your key and ticket will be given to you with a plastic tube you put around your neck while you swim; its not completely water tight so maybe check it every few hours for water.

The park itself it big, it has about 3 different 'play' areas for kids with their own slides and pools, plus a big wave pool which you can go in in a ring or just bob about in the shallow end.
There's an 'adventure' area with zip wires that just propel you into the water and, if you think you're strong enough, a monkey bar type crossing, that normally has a crowd of teen boys all attempting to get across. (I did not even attempt it!)
There's also a reasonably high diving board behind there.

There is then a big lazy river, with hoops, which are really too big to sit comfortably in but i guess for 6-15 years olds it's ok...not really for adults :p but the actual river is great fun, with some really fast bits and the bottom of the pool is fairly smooth so you can slide around it comfortably.

In the middle of the lazy river are the slides; theres a big 5-lane slides, then various tubes (apparently the black is the scariest) and one that you go down in two's in a big double hoop boat.
I didn't go on them as I couldn't leave my little one and she was too small to go on them all/too scared!

Changing rooms aren't all that and there's no privacy, but too be honest, you're all women, you all have the same bits and no-one cares what you look like when you're getting changed. It's a different kind of culture remember!

Ladies; don't forget to bring a top to swim in if you have a bikini, because you won't see many female bare bodies there, as they all cover stuff up, so be polite as do the same!
Not so much with small kids and men don't have to worry.

As one may expect from Vietnam this water park is not completely coherent with western safety standards and hygiene conditions yet compared to the new solar amusement park which is integrated with the water park now a days it is as safe as it will get.

The hygiene standard is something you should try to ignore, just show up in your swim shorts and shower back at home as the common showers and changing rooms are plain dirty, chaotic and offer no privacy.

The price to enter is 150.000 dong and my advice is to go during the day and be out of the park before 17:00. As the entrance price drops after that time it becomes utter chaos in the park.

Furthermore the slides are amazing, they are fast and simply entertaining. Also the other facilities are offering a great extend of entertainment and you can even spot a significant amount of foreigners now a days.

I highly recommend the Ho Tay Water Park, it has lots of things to do including slides, lazy river, zipwire, monkey bars, big rock to jump off, regular swimming areas and a wave machine. It now costs 150, 000 per adult most of the time which is on the expensive side (but worth it if you go on everything, stay a while etc). It's chaotic and busy on weekends but worth it to cool down! However if you go after 5 pm it only costs 75,000 and is much quieter on a weekday evening. There's also food, beer and refreshments available! It's the perfect way to cool off after a hot day in Hanoi. My favourite is the black slide (terrifying!). The changing rooms aren't great so I normally turn up wearing my swimsuit. Lockers are available and cost 30, 000 plus a 50, 000 deposit. Taxis and xe oms can get a little confused getting here - I normally point to the big wheel across West Lake as the Water Park is right beside this.

We went to Ho Tay on a Sunday, probably a mistake as it was really busy, It is cheap to get in 150VD each person. There are a number of slides, a lazy river, diving board and a wave machine.

It was good to cool off from the stickiness of the city but was a bit too busy!
