In our recent travels my family (two adults, two young children) found the Church Boutique on Hang Gai (there are three in Hanoi) an excellent place to return to and did so happily after a trip to Sapa. The staff were very helpful and accommodating, the location was excellent, the rooms and amenities were delightful and the surrounding shops, restaurants and access to monuments and points of interest was terrific. No fitness or pool amenities but welcoming of children.

Room Tip: Even street-side rooms are quiet at night but you do occasionally get horns in the morning (earlier...

“Modern & Affordable Accommodation in Hanoi ”
Location
Church Boutique Hotel is just a 45-minute drive from the Airport by Taxi. Its great and central Location at the Old City of Hanoi makes this hotel a top choice. The surrounding neighborhood is very safe even late at night. Souvenir Shops, Night Markets, Massage Parlors, Cafes & Restaurants are just around the corner as well as the famed Lake of Hoan Kiem (which is very romantic at night), the world famous Waterpuppet Show at the Thanglong Theater and the sophisticated French Quarter.

First Impression
This Boutique Hotel has very few rooms but very well-maintained. First Class and high-quality Materials were used. Our Room was chic, modern and at the same time homey although quite small. It was even equipped with Itronic Service (Integrated Service for Alarm Clock, DND & AC).

Highlights
The modern wallpaper and decoration, marbled WC, the friendly Staffs who tried their best to be understood in English (they let us enjoy our first breakfast even after 10 a.m.) and the 5 star Turn Down Service (complete with Bottled Water, Chocolates & Fruit Platter).

Lowlights
Room 201 didn’t have any Window, the Hotel Pick-Up Service was too expensive (VND 420, 000) & the Breakfast Buffet was just okay, nothing special except for the Pho (Noodles).

My Verdict
Recommended!!! It’s worth it!

Having a combined business/holiday trip with my wife and daughter this was a great location.
I stayed in other Church Boutique Hotels in Hanoi and all have the same standard.
The breakfast is fair but avoid the dinner in the restaurant. You will find higher quality and more fair prizes just around the corner.

My adult daughters and I spent several nights at the Church Boutique Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was excellent and the room bright and convenient. With three people in the room, it was tight, but the small alcoves off the main room provided a little privacy and a way for us to keep luggage away from the beds. The shower was delightful after a very long flight from NYC. The breakfast was fine and the staff very friendly.
The staff made several excellent restaurant recommendations, including one recommendation of a very interesting intersection where we could sit on plastic stools on the sidewalk, drink a few beers, eat spring rolls and let the craziness of Hanoi envelop us.
The location is perfect. You can walk to great shopping, restaurants, and sights.

Room Tip: We fronted the street and it was nice and sunny. It was not noisy.

The Church Boutique hotel, 95 Hang Gai Street, Is the perfect hotel in the heart of Hanoi's old quarter and shopping district. Having experienced cavernous and alienating 5 star hotels cut off from the main attractions, how nice to come back from the chaotic excitement of Hanoi and have the feeling of being hugged by the whole establishment! The intelligent design of both building and decor gives the semblance of lightness and space. The hotel is impeccable and the staff are helpful and friendly. Le, in the breakfast buffet, was so nice each morning, preparing ( of her own accord) a medicinal concoction for my cold! This was a true 'home away from home'. There isn't a pool - but there's no need . Too much to do in Hanoi and environs!

I came for a four-night business trip and found myself in a very well-run, efficient gem of a hotel. I found the size of the room perfect, outfitted with a good sized TV and tea/coffee maker. I loved the open water-fall style shower, and the copious water! I found the AC not well-positioned as it blew directly on me at night, but that didn't take away from the positive experience i had. The hotel is situated a short 7 minute walk from the lake, and hundreds of excellent noodle shops and souvenir shopping. I would go with the Asian breakfast as the Western food left much to be desired! Also, Vietnamese coffee (brewed) can be rather strong and bitter, so would order the cappuccino off the menu and pay a little extra.

Room Tip: I believe all the rooms are good -- I had a room on the 6th floor.

The rooms were nice but poorly designed ie the bathroom shower leaked everywhere. The service was ok but we got stung with a $40 laundry fee for a few items, we were not told we had to pay for one and we were not shown the prices for items. Food was ok but not outstanding, stale bread and croissants etc can find a better hotel at this price.
