Stayed in a few different rooms as we were in and out of tours.
The rooms are good and clean, with firm beds, floorboards, flatscreen TV, air-con, mini-fridge, iron + board. Sizes of the rooms are a little variable. The superior room was actually quite small, bordering on cramped, but there was a king sized bed in the room. The family suite we got upgraded to on another occasion was quite spacious.
Wifi is complimentary and reasonably fast. There is complimentary water, dry sweet ice tea sachet, instant coffee and kettle. The lobby has free coffee and tea all day.
Shower in all the rooms we had were great. Rainforest with good power, hot water seemingly unlimited. There was a slight problem where it appears that form over function has been chosen in the design. The shower has a nice granite lip to hold the water in, however the granite lip is a reasonable width of about 5cm: The result being that the shower had a slight leak, as any water that runs down the glass shower door tended to collect on the surface of the lip, then drain both ways into and out of the shower. This was not a huge problem in the superior room, as the shower is inside the toilet. However our shower in the family suite was separate, and we ended up with some water out on the floorboard.
Location is quite good, being inside the old quarter, which is busy and lively during the day, but nice and quiet at night. Night market, water puppet theater, and the lake with the pagoda is only 10 minutes walk away. In fact because of warnings about taxi scams from the train station, on two occasions we simply walked for 15-20minutes to the hotel after arriving on the night train.
Lobby also serves as restaurant where breakfast is served. Breakfast is average with combination of western meals and also some pho. Plenty of fresh fruits and juices are available.
The staff were really fantastic. All very friendly and helpful. They recommended us arguably the best pho and ban-cha in all of Hanoi. Were helpful in organizing tickets for water puppet theatre show, train tickets and organized a town car for us on the last trip to the airport.
They also have a wide selection of tours to book for Halong Bay, Lan Ha bay, Tam Coc and Sapa. We booked a Sapa tour with the hotel and they sent a bellboy to the station with the group to make sure there were no problems.
Overall i would highly recommend this hotel for the great location, fantastic staff, good rooms though can be a little too cozy, and a great shower for a good daily clean.
