“Spare ribs heaven”
Reviewed March 10, 2014

Myself and two friends had a fantastic meal here. I had spare ribs and I can say the best I have ever had and I have travel a fair bit the restaurant is nicely turned out and the staff are very friendly and professional it is a little pricey but the food was very good and worth that little extra. If you visit Hanoi visit El Gaucho you won't be disappointed.

“Mr. Carnevor Approves”
Reviewed February 27, 2014

We had previously dined at El Gaucho in Aruba so when we found out that there were also establishments in Southeast Asia, we vowed we would give it a try. We oprted not to dine at El Gaucho in Bangkok but rather in the Hanoi location. Lucky for us, the restaurant was across from our hotel, Hanoi Opera Hilton. WE asked our tour guide if we needed to reserve a table and were told that no one does that in Hanoi. But when we presented ourselves at 7PM for dinner, the first question was "do you have a reservation?" The manager, a lovely gentleman from Slovenia seated us at the bar, gave us a couple of tastings of Malbec (we decided on a bottle) and within 15 minutes we were seated at our table on the main level. The meal was pricey even by US standards but especially so for Hanoi so we were most surprised to see so many locals dining there. But El Gaucho did not disappoint. In addition to a bottle of wine, we shared a prime rib eye, baked potato and caesar salad. The bill was approximately $150 US, by far the most expensive meal we had on our 12 day Asia trip. But the food and service were excellent, the ambiance was delightful and by day 12, we were grateful that we had had at least one meat meal :)
One small comment, no one offered us complimentary caramel vodka :(

“Great food and service but a bit pricy!!!”
Reviewed February 26, 2014

Went to El Gaucho several times, if you want a good steak this is THE PLACE to go to. There are 2 places one in 99 Xuan DIeu (open only at night for dinner) and the other that just opened in Trang Tien in front of Hanoi opera (open for lunch and dinner). Both places have lots of crowd and booking is recommended especially for dinner.
Meat is imported from Australia and USA, nice selection of wines as well to accompany your dinner. We had 250gr USA choice prime beef, actually one of the cheapest on the menu but still very good, side dish is optional but the dressing was sooo goooood 'blue cheese sauce', accompanied with a nice glass of Merlot. Honestly with that portion of meat for 2, it's more than enough.

“A Valentine's treat!”
Reviewed February 18, 2014

We went to El Gaucho for dinner for the first time last week. The atmosphere is really special and the food and service was five star. I don't like to eat a lot of meat, but they also have many salads and vegetables. The complementary caramel vodka at the end of the meal was the perfect finish!
