“A charming hotel in the center of Hanoi”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 13, 2013

Perfect location in the center of the Old Town of Hanoi; not more than 150 metres from the beach of the lake. Spacious and clean rooms. Extremely riendly and helpful staff. Most reasonable rate. The best hotel of our amaizing trip to Vietnam. A were sorry that we coudn't stay more than one night.

I was here in september 2012 and decided to try different hotel this time (feb 2013). I regret it.
Nothing i know of can compare with meracus, so clean, such nice entrance and an amazing staff.
Breakfast is also good and it includes a chef who explains every course for you.

Pickup service from airport is 18dollars, which i think is a bit overrated, but you dont have to take it.

The rooms were well appointed, very clean, quiet and comfortable. The qualtiy of the furniture and cleanliness of the room is outstanding and the common areas are beautiful. All the staff - front of house, food and beverage and housekeeping were extremely friendly and helpful. It's all great, you won't be disappointed.

An extremely friendly welcome and competent personel. We requested a twinroom and got a rather big room with all amenities and in good repair. The breakfast was excellent. The location is perfect with lots of interesting destinations within walking distance. When we returned to the hotel after a week absence we were recognized and made to feel like returning family.

Room Tip: The lower floors in the front can be a bit noisy because traffic does not stop at night.

The staff of the Meracus, even by the high standards of Vietnamese hotels, were amazing. We arrived on the overnight train from Hue at 6am and got a taxi to the hotel, hopeful that we could leave our bags but not much more. The staff put us in a room straight away, 8 hours before the technically allowed check-in time, essentially giving us an extra night for free. They were always attentive and incredibly friendly. The room and location, too, contributed to a sense that this is a brilliant hotel. On one of the best shopping streets in the Old Quarter, and about a two minute walk down to Hoam Kiem lake, there can't be a better placed hotel in Hanoi. The breakfast buffet was the best we tried in Vietnam, the wifi was excellent and the rooms always pristine. On top of that, the shower was ridiculously good - 5 different shower-heads - and the management left a hand-written note when we checked out. Not a bad word to say about the Meracus, it was (pun intended) Meraculous.

The friendliest & most willing to help staff ever encountered in any hotel anywhere & with what appeared to be a warm genuine smile. Great rooms with great facilities. If one was picky the only thing missing was a bar (but this is common in Vietnam). If I was ever lucky to return to Hanoi this is where I would stay.

We had very nice weekend here with my wife. The deluxe room was spacious with a hardwood floor. The bed was HUGE and comfortable and the shower was big, with great water pressure and lots of hot water. There was complimentary fruit and bottled water, and the minibar was well stocked and inexpensive. Best of all, the staff was very friendly and extremely responsive. We felt very welcome. My only minor complaints are that the wifi signal was pretty weak in our room (it was free, though), and there was a some street noise in the morning.

Room Tip: Don't get a street view room if you are a light sleeper.
