“Hard beds, overpriced, not an airport hotel”
Reviewed April 4, 2012

Avoid unless no other option. Despite the name, you cant get there (or back to airport) without a 5$ cab. Good people but crappy beds and neighbourhood with lous karaoke.

here's the deal. the airport is nearly 30 miles away from the city center. the avi airport hotel is 5 minutes away. some have said it's in a "village" near the airport. but a "village" conjures up different meanings for westerners. this is not a "village" but a typical dirty, rough, concrete set of streets with a produce market, a few pho bo stands, a couple of bia hoi stands and this one hotel that's actually what it says it is. clean.

keep in mind, it's a typical vietnamese, skinny, tall building, not the typical hotel you would think of in the west.

if you have a short time between flights, this is your place. believe me, if you just have a layover overnight, heading all the way into the city center is a drag and you will NOT get a good night's sleep in the city center.

the family that owns the avi airport hotel are all very nice, wonderful people. they replied to my email really quick. they arranged for a car to pick us up at our hanoi center hotel and he arrived on time, they checked us in with nothing but kindness, even offered me a beer and a smoke, and in the morning, had a car waiting for us to take us to the airport.

bring earplugs, your room may be facing the street. you need a place to sleep and don't need tourists sights? book here. we liked it.

oh, one thing i agree with in other reviews, hard beds! just a flattened futon, really. but come on, one night.

Room Tip: bring a ukulele. :)

Contacted hotel by email for queries and reservation. Replies were prompt. Friendly staff and they organised airport pick up and drop off for $5. Breakfast $2. Beds very hard but large room. Pillows good. Only 10 mins to airport.

We stayed here as we had a 12 hour layover at the airport.Rooms are very basic. It was very cold but the heat in the room worked great.Beds were hard but you expect that in Asia. Had TV with english channels.Staff was very helpful in getting heavy luggage up the stairs. They arranged for a transfer that was waiting for us at the gate with our name and everything.Don't get nervous the transfer seems wild but the system seems to work we were at the Hotel in five minutes after we got in the car.Hotel pays transfer maybe save a couple of bucks for the guy who lugs your luggage up stairs as they are plentyful. Lots of road work in front of the hotel so it's a little dodgie when you pull up.Rooms were clean so don't worry.

Room Tip: Maybe ask for a room up high and in the back to avoid road traffic noise.

All I needed was a place to stay for one night before flying home. So I booked this hotel just because it was the closest to the airport that I could find. When I arrived the staff were really friendly and efficient. They provided a good breakfast, and quite a few cups of coffee. There's a good produce market opposite the hotel and also a restaurant where I got a late night bowl of pho. They even wrote out what to order in Vietnamese. Overall its a convenient, friendly and helpful place that belies it's sterile outward appearance.

I had emailed and organised with the manager for an airport transfer 3 days before we arrived which she confirmed twice and then they didnt even show up to pick us up leaving us stranded at the airport at midnight. Not impressed.

If you prefer quiet, freindly, family atmosphere try this place I loved it. Situated off the airport drive and close enough, but not too close to hear planes taking off and landing. Food is simple local, home cooked and adequate. Be sure and allow a couple of extra hours for stroll in the local produce market and surrounding community. Highly recommended.
