“Good food, friendly staff”
Reviewed April 27, 2013

We ate here twice whilst in Hanoi, and had great meals both times. Prices are perhaps a little more expensive for Vietnam but its still very reasonable. Definately reccomend the Bun Cha and the Sea Bass steamed in banana leaf - along with a cocktail or 2! Staff were very friendly and attentive. Ask to sit upstairs.

“Vietnamese Dinner in Old Quarter”
Reviewed April 12, 2013

Restaurant 96 has a menu with many options of Vietnamese food. As we dinned here towards the end of our stay in Vietnam, we were already acquainted with the dishes so it was easy to order: Vietnamese Pork Soup with Drakenfruit was very tasty, Bun Cha - excellent, mango lassi and beer :).

“Great meal in an awesome setting”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

Our hotel suggested this restaurant about a block away, and off we went. There were six of us and we were given a table on the balcony of the third floor, the only table there. Excellent food -we had six appetizers (six different types of spring rolls),6 drinks, a bottle of wine, four main courses, and six different ice creams for dessert. The flavours were wonderful, the service very good and the bill was less than $80. Apparently not cheap by Vietnam standards, but the cost of the drinks at home. Go back in a heartbeat.

“Tasty food, lovely staff.”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

Walked past here and saw the hot pot special, and just had to get it. The broth was wonderfully flavoursome, and the assortment of ingredients to add to it were extensive and very fresh. Was really impressed by friendly staff, and although it wasn't cheap by Hanoi standards (180,000VND), it was worth every penny. The fruit juices were also delicious!

“Good food in a pleasant environment”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

Well 96 certainly has street appeal, looks lovely from the street, clean, welcoming. We were doing a little bia tour, bar hopping around the old town. Needed some more drinks and rest the feet. It was about 5pm so the place was empty waiting for diners to come in. We sat out the front, nice greating, big menues. Toilets nice and clean, good sign. Hubbie grabbed a beer, easy, I ordered a Cab Sav. Waitress comes back sorry we don't have that wine. We have this one and this pointing to the menu. OK fine I'll have the one you receomend. Back 5mins later, sorry we don't have that wine. OK I'll have the other one you recoemended. 5 mins later, sorry we don't have this wine???? Why don't you just pour me a glass of red wine that you do have??? Finally a glass of red appeared. She wrestled the drinks menu off us, why? Can't we look at it? It might get you more money if we could browse the menu? There is no one else here? Oh please can't we keep it? umm no. OK?? She then insisted we ordered food, we tried to resist, please drink first, rest, maybe some food in a little bit, not we need to order food now. OK??? Ordered some appetisers. They appeared quickly and were some of the tastiest and well presented snacks we had in all of Vietnam. Hats off to chef for fresh and well plated food. The service gruff, but the food and venue lovely. Would I go back, yes I would!!
