This restaurant/bar was OK - I sat downstairs and it was very quiet, but it sounded as if the upstairs had more life. Nice and clean. Food was OK - fresh spring rolls. Nice enough staff. Just wasn't anything other than average compared to other places I ate and drank at whilst in Vietnam.

I ate at Restaurant 96 based on the Trip Advisor reviews and was very disappointed. The service was not attentive or professional. The staff kept shouting and arguing with each other (about what, I do not know, as it was in Vietnamese). Also, they had someone stationed at the front door to keep the door closed, but that person often left his post. As a result, the tables near the door were blasted with cold air and the diner at the next table got up several times to close it. A staff member apologized, but did nothing to remedy the situation. The food was overpriced (up to double other restaurants), even the ginger tea (made with a tea bag: lame). The portions were small. There was a long, black hair in my pumpkin dish. The duck entree was way too salty. Overall: this place is overrated and overpriced and I hope this review helps other travelers avoid my disappointment.

We went here for dinner last night after stopping to look at the menu. We were pretty hungry and opted for an early dinner. When we placed our order, apart from another couple eating, we were the only people in the restaurant. Once we ordered our meals the restaurant filled up quite fast with what appeared to be tour groups. Once these tour groups arrived the staff appeared more interested in them then us with their entrees and mains of one of these groups being served before we had even been served entree. Being on holiday we were in no real rush but it was getting slightly ridiculous how long we had been waiting and turned out they had lost our order and were going to get it made as quick as they could. Then when food finally did arrive it was our main course and not entree. They were apologetic but by this time we were just getting extremely annoyed which was a real shame because the food was actually nice but because of the bad service we could not enjoy it. When we finished our main course entree arrived (!) but we sent it back as by this time we just wanted to pay and leave. The staff were extremely apologetic and trying their hardest to rectify the situation by giving us a free dessert platter when we asked for the bill. Overall good food, good variety on the menu, it was the service that really let this restaurant down for us :(

Ate here on NYE with no booking got us a table for 6 traveling with kids. Food was very good and staff helpful. Local specials really good and staff showed how to eat it. Really good value for a nice restaurant about $10 each and we had plenty of food and drink

Julie and I shared a late afternoon snack of the classic Bun Cha with beer. Sitting at the table on the street was great and the food wonderful. We actually were looking for Bun Xeow, the Vietnamese pancakes, they didn't have them on the menu, but at their front door they told us where we can get really good Bun Xeow. We decided to stay and eat at number 96 rather than look further and we were very pleased.
