I love visiting old buildings with history, but this was a bit disappointing as there wasn't much inside to see. The tourist items for sale everywhere spoilt it really and none of the staff seemed interested in telling you the history. But they do have music evenings which looked interesting but sadly I was away on a trip. For a better feeling of an ancient house, have a meal at 69 Bar-Restaurant, a few doors down.

Ok but perhaps a little boring for us. Also had over priced souvenirs. Staff werent particularly friendly or informative.

Vietnamese architecture really interested us with long tube houses stretching back from the street, central placement of a tiny courtyard or open air deck on top. The Ancient House was a nice glimpse into an older way of life and what the houses were like before all the additions and modifications were made. Well worth a visit.

This part of town is chock full of great old historic places it is nice to see one that is open to the public. Seems largely intact even though it has been restored. Loved the rain catcher water system and water cistern in the old kitchen area, and the courtyards. We almost missed the interior because it was closed for lunch. We wound up walking back after doing some wandering and were happy to have found it open.
