“Nice for a budget hotel”
Reviewed May 21, 2012

We chose this hotel based on review on TA and the picture. When we arrived at the hotel, we are a little disappointed, our room was really small, with no windows. The bathroom was ok, but could see mold in the bath which i was not too impressed by. I have 2 complaints:

- We were at the end of the hall and our room smelled overwhelmingly like asparagus - so much it was unpleasant to be in.
but i suppose if it is a budget hotel you are after, this hotel will do just fine.

- We booked a day tour for halong bay $40, and then later as we visit hanoi, we saw the very same tour for $17dollars. So could not help but have the feeling of being ripped!

No other complaints though. Breakfast was ok, staff really friendly and always trying to help and smiling. Great location.

Dear travellers,
First word,We would like to say thank you all for posting us your
reviews on this website.
It is an endless source of experience for us to make ourself better in
this hospitality business. We understand how precious your comment to
us.

On this review,Although We are not sure if you are our guest or not,We just want to have a small explaination about tour problem that you have .Actually,on tour market in Hanoi old quarter, there are many kind of tours at different prices. It ranges from 17$ as you said to 40$ but all depend on its quality. We also can arrange the 17$ tour but we never want to sell that kind of tour for our guest as that cheapest kind of tour will break your time and your holiday because of its very bad service and organization.
We think you also can understand how can organizers create a tour with 17$ including all buses ,food, travel ticket ,guide...?
May be the tour agency showed you the program which is quite same like us but for sure they will send you to the cheapest tour company. For sure that is the way they do.
We hope that with our sincere explaination,You will feel better and we wish to welcome you back to Hanoi again.
We do appology the author if he felt something not
comfortable .,And next time ,when you come back ,We hope to have a
chance to serve you with our at most effort
We beleive that with an effort of our entire staff ,We will bring our
guests the most comfortable stay.
Your Best Regards,
Manage

Stayed here as part of our 3 week holiday in Vietnam in April .We stayed based on Trip advisor reviews and so glad we did.
This was the first place we stayed on our trip and the staff here gave us the warmest welcome and made us feel right at home instantly.
I wish I could remember all the staff names but we deffinetly remember the smiles and service we received during our stay.
The managers constantly tried to help us with our plans so we could make the most of our short stay which we really appreciate , the bell boys always smiling and my family loved chatting to them , breakfast staff just gorgeous and then the cleaning staff who were also just lovely and did a fantastic job of ensuring rooms were perfect.
Great location, rooms were really nice had 2 rooms as we were 2 adults and 2 children and were given rooms on same level these were nice and quiet.
Breakfast is just what you need to start your day with a reasonable selection.
After staying one night we went to Sapa on the Sapaly overnight train and left our luggage at the hotel which was fantastic! On our return we arrived very early in the morning .We were given complimentry breakfast while we waited for our room.Probably got this about 12 pm so if we did the same trip again I would pay the extra and book a room from the previous day so you could go straight to your room and maybe sleep for a few hours.
Instead while we waited my family and I went to the lake and watched the thai chi , which was something we would probably have missed if we had of gone to a roomearly instaed so Im glad we we did. Depends on how much sleep you get on the train as well.
Lots of eating choices nearby the hotel including the restaraunt across the street and down a few !
Found this on the last night which had amazing food and smoothies at great prices.
Stayed here for 3 nights in total and thoroughly enjoyed it all would love to reccommend it to anyone travelling to Hanoi !
We cant wait to go back !

Room Tip: Tried a few types and both were great!

The staffs are very friendly and it is amazing to have a PC in the room for usage. I think is quite cool. In addition, when we had to leave the place early morning, the staff woke up early to prepare our breakfast - Just for us! Thumb up!!!!!!

This hotel came highly recommended on Tripadvisor because of the great service – and Jenny and the staff did not disappoint! They arranged transport to and from the airport, arranged a daytrip to Halong Bay the following day, and when we decided to stay there for two nights, Jenny stayed in contact with us and arranged for us to be picked up at our hotel and return to Hanoi with another tour. At no extra cost. On our return the Diamond was fully booked, so she arranged a room in their sister hotel and had our luggage brought over the following day to their hotel from where she arranged transport to the airport. And we were not evening staying in the hotel!!! She even stayed in contact after we left Vietnam!
The hotel itself is clean, comfortable, good location, nice breakfast and a welcome haven in the chaotic awesomeness that is Old Quarter Hanoi. Highly recommended.
Thank you Jenny, Cherry and the amazing staff!

We've just returned from a 3 week trip to Vietnam and stayed in some great places, but this hotel topped them all in terms of friendliness, level of service and consistent quality of rooms. The staff there make and effort to know each guest's name, have great cheeky senses of humour, and really make sure everything can be done to make the stay as memorable as possible. From computers in the rooms to a wide selection at breakfast, everything we needed was there. Only a slight concern was that the window in one of the rooms we had looked onto the wall next door (a few cms away) so in effect there wasn't a window. It would be worth requesting rooms with views if this is a concern.

Thank you Jenny and the rest of the team for such a great stay. If I ever come back to Hanoi I'll have no hesitation of coming back.

We chose The Holiday Diamond on the strength of tripadvisor reviews and have not regretted it. The staff have been extremely friendly, the room was fine (if not a bit small), and they're in the process of repainting so it's one of the better-maintained Old Quarter Places.

We had one of the "Executive" (not quite) rooms out the back, with a decent window with a big tree beyond, and didn't hear a thing all night, despite the hotel being surrounded by the old Hanoi madness..

And a brilliant breakfast thrown in for the price!

Room Tip: See if you can get upgraded to one of the executive rooms with the 'garden view' - very quie...

The Hanoi Holiday Diamond Hotel was the best place we stayed in on a 4 week trip through Vietnam. The staff were extremely friendly and could not do enough to help. We used the hotel as a base whilst travelling around which meant that we twice arrived in the early morning and twice left late in the evening; the hotel gave us rooms to rest and shower in before our room was ready and after we had checked out.

Room Tip: Huge double bed in the executive room
