I'm not being hyperbolic. This is simply an amazing hotel, and it's all because of the staff. They are the nicest people I've ever met. I met up with an old college friend there, and immediately felt at home. As soon as we returned to the hotel after going anywhere, four or five staff members would immediately greet us by name ("hi, Jim and Terry!), and ask us about our day, and they sincerely wanted to talk about our day out. Everything else is very good: the hotel is clean and well decorated, the breakfast amazing (tip: get the bowl of vietnamese noodle soup that you have to order from the girls in the back), and the cost a real bargain, but the staff is what makes this a special place. In a very friendly city, this place felt like home.

Room Tip: If you like bigger rooms, the upgrades are worth the few extra dollars, but the regular rooms felt f...

The staff absolutely make this hotel what it is. We spent a month in Vietnam, and this was by far the best hotel and best service of any of the hotels we visited. The service far exceeds anything we have ever experienced, even better than some high profile 5 star hotels we have stayed at in Australia.
Jenny is probably the friendliest and most helpful person you will ever meet in your life, her warm happy greeting and amazing service and helpfulness absolutely made our day and was one of the highlights of our holiday in Vietnam. This hotel deserves to be the #1 ranking on Trip Advisor. You need to stay here just to experience the service!!!
The hotel itself is also very nice, it is clean and the rooms are very comfortable and well serviced. Breakfast is also pretty good. For the price, you can't beat this place. Location is excellent too.
Thanks again Jenny, and all your other staff, we don't write many reviews on TA, but your service really needs to be recognised. Absolutely unbeatable!!!! Richard and Sarah

Room Tip: Book your tours and train tickets via the hotel staff, they not only do a gret job in booking for yo...

I must the say the best in this hotel is the staff that works there. They make anything for you to feel comfortable and they speak very good English.
I was 2 nights there and they booked for me a tour to Halong Bay and the transfer to the airport. The room was good and there was a computer with Internet in the room. For those, as me for example, that uses the wifi a lot, there are many routers on the floor so that the signal is very strong.
The breakfast buffet was also great with local and western specialities. It was more like a brunch. And for all that, it costed U$20 per night.
The location is very good. It is near the night market and the lake. As I like to walk a lot, I could go to everywhere walking.
I couldn't understand why this hotel is so good rated but now I know it is because of its staff, or should I say concierge service.

You cannot expect huge rooms in a hotel located directly in the old town knowing the style it is build in. But the rooms are very clean, incl. flat screen TV and complete PC. Of course, also WiFi is available for free.
We stayed 3 nights end enjoyed the attention the personnel paid to all the hotel guests. If needed, they took also care of our bookings, such as Halong Bay and train to HCMC.
We don't have to mention, that everything worked very well.
When coming back from Halong, we wanted to directly go to the train station but had still some time. So we were offered to make a use of a room to get some rest until we would have to leave for the night train. They also organized a taxi and sent one hotel boy with us to the train just to avoid problems.
We'd like to mention also the breakfast buffet, which was one of the best experiences we made on our 4 week trip through Vietnam and Cambodia.
We would take this hotel any time again!

This is a very good hotel to stay in if you want a mid priced room in the old quarter that is secure and comfortable. Good communication with hotel staff via email before arrival. Airport transfers very smooth. Rooms pretty good. Internet in rooms is a nice addition. Breakfast was very good. Best of all though are the staff who are genuinely interested in making your stay a pleasant one. I had a problem with my C/C and the staff let me use their mobile to call my bank as I was having trouble connecting from the room phone. The hotel staff would not take any money to pay for the call! I would go back and stay there again without any question.

Room Tip: Rooms are quiter on the higher floors and have natural light.

Put simply you have-to-stay-at-this-hotel... and here's why!

Easy...
If you stay in this hotel for 3 nights or more you can get a free pickup from Hanoi Airport - which is valuable, as we heard from people attempting to get a taxi from the airport and arriving at a different hotel from the one asked for! We arrived in the evening and the driver met us at the airport with a sign with my name on it and got us to the hotel with no fuss.

Service...
From the second I arrived and throughout the stay the staff couldn't have done more to be welcoming and helpful. JENNY in particular is fantastic! The hotel staff helped us with a map and directions to what to see sight seeing, they arranged for our clothes to be laundered, they were so polite, they allowed us to leave our luggage whilst we went on a boat trip to Ha Long Bay, they arranged a sister hotel (the Charming Hotel II) when we returned to Hanoi and this hotel was full. The reception team remembered our names and greeted us each time we arrived back. When we were setting off out they were interested in us and full of advice.
I've travelled to many places and can't think of friendlier staff in any hotel I've stayed in anywhere.

Location
The location is great. Right in the centre of the old town, 5-10 minutes work to Turtle Lake in the centre of Hanoi . It's also a great place because the streets around the Holiday Diamond make you feel like you're in Hanoi - there are people serving pho in the street, shops and markets within a few steps.

Rooms & Hotel Facilities
The hotel is spotlessly clean. The bellboys that open the front door for you continually clean the tiled shiny floor in the reception area - even when visitors like us trail their dirty cases over the floor! The room was beautiful with a King size double bed, a great shower/bath, free Wi Fi and a PC in the room. There was also a great TV, a safe, air con and a view over the Hanoi rooftops. The breakfast is also good - with cooked & continental. Also in the room there is complimentary bottled water and fruit that is refreshed daily.

Value for money
This hotel is such good value, AMAZING for the money.

Thanks Jenny & Team we had a great time Andrew & Andrew!
