Very classy, good food and excellent cause. We spent Christmas Eve here and the price fixed menu was much more reasonable then other restaurants that we checked into. Our greeter was very friendly, spoke good English and was dressed in a really bad Santa Claus outfit. They gave us some excellent shortbread cookies when we left.

After going to the Museum of Ethnology, don't miss this restaurant right next to it. The food was really good, the service friendly and quick. The atmosphere lovely...they have nice patio dining. The restaurant trains disadvantaged youth. We highly recommend supporting this restaurant.

I have been several time to Song Thu Restaurant and despite its remote (new) emplacement from what Hanoi has to offer in touristic activities, Song Thu deserves a special attention. Indeed, this restaurant is part of Hoa Sua school's project to train disavantaged youth in the culinary/bakery and hospitality sector. So don't expect to have a 5 stars table service when you enter the restaurant since the students are training and their english abilities are low, however you will be immediately stunned by the atmosphere and the architecture of this French Colonial building. Song Thu is a little piece of paradise in Hanoi's chaos and agitation. The menu is varied with French and Vietnamese specialities. Most of the cook have been trained in France and I found some main course that I was not able to find out anywhere else in Hanoi, like the famous "Poulet Chasseur" or the "meat lasagna".
Last but not least, Hoa Sua provides vietnamese cooking classes for groups and they are worth trying if you want to reproduce Spring Rolls or Pho back home.

The restaurant has two floors, we were at the upper floor. It had a very classy and cultivated feel, for example the waitress laid the napkins in our laps when she brought our meals. Quality was good, worth a visit if you're in the area.

Before they moved, the menu was a long list of dishes (french and vietnamese) and set menus at reasonable prices. Now there are only few dishes, no more set menus, the portions are very small and the bill quite high, especially considering the quality and quantity.
