Ms Tracey was extremely welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was very spacious and had everything we needed. We also arranged our trip to Halong bay through the travel desk here and it was brilliant. We paid 18 dollars for a triple room and it was right in the centre of the oldquarter. Highly reccommend this hotel to anyone. They also held our room and bags for us while we went to halong bay for 2 days for no extra cost! Ms Tracey also helped us book a hotel In hue and bagged us a free pick up from the bus station. We also booked our open bus tour tickets for the whole of our month travel in vietnam for only 45 dollars each. Bargain!

Will stay here again!

We stumbled into Alibaba Hotel on a whim and ended up staying 9nights. As a seasoned backpacker, the price was just right, the sheets where clean, wifi-included & the location was right in the center of town. However, what really sold me was the staff. After having been on the road for the last 10months they really made me feel like I was "at home." Aside from being exceptionally charming they will go completely out of their way to assist you. Alibaba has all your needed amenities and also operates as a tour agency. Sure the building is old but so are ALL the buildings in "Old Hanoi." If you are looking for a "hostel break" at a hostel price then check out Alibaba!

Room Tip: Rooms with a balcony are very nice but also somewhat noisy due to street traffic. So, if you are not...

I arrived in Hanoi and did the usual peruse of nearby hotels/guest houses and while the staff at other places were very nice, Alibaba was exceptional. Ms. Tracy, her family and the rest of the employees made my stay a great one! If I ever had a question, they were all more than willing to help. The rooms were always very clean and were very reasonably priced. If you are staying in the Old Quarter of Hanoi, look nowhere else and stay at Alibaba Hotel.

We stayed here for 1
Night passing through Hanoi.. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful and offered advice regarding our flight tickets and bus routes/taxis to airport.. She gave us a choice of 2 rooms..
The building itself is quite old but the room was fine and the bed sheets looked clean. We had a standard double room which was really bug and had a balcony, fridge, tv and wifi for 10$. The bathroom was small and was t the best but fine and good for what u pay for.

We spent 3 nights in Alibaba Hotel last week in a standard room at $10. The building is quite old and so is the room but the staff is nice and helpful. The breakfast is not very generous (eggs with bread and a tea/coffee/glass of milk) but it is included so you can't expect much more for the price. There was some kind of a party the last night we stayed there, people were very noisy and the manager apparently let them because it lasted for hours. I would still recommend this cheap hotel if you spend a few days in Hanoi and aren't too picky - You get what you pay for!

Centrally situated hostal, great for backpackers looking for something basic and clean. The owners are lovely, honest and very helpful. Like everywhere in Hanoi they will organise trips for you, as even for well travelled backpackers it is cheaper and more efficient to have the agents book the trips plus they are more aware of road conditions when there is bad weather etc The owners of this hostal are very trustworthy, which I think is worth a lot. There isn't a lift, there is wifi and a small supermarket a few doors away.
