Handspan also offers you the chance to experience Vietnam in ways that ensure that your impacts on local environmental, social, and economic contexts are positive ones. Our expert knowledge about the places we visit and the local challenges they face, enables us to design and operate tours that promote a balance between the need for economic development and ecological preservation. “Excellent experience on Halong Bay”
Reviewed July 9, 2013 via mobile

Excellent service from word go and well organised transfers to Halong Bay. Treasure Junk was more expensive than most options but the boat was spotless, the service fabulous and the food excellent. Good value cocktails. The kayaking and swimming were great fun. Highly recommended. Only slight criticisms were the waiting in the return - eg arriving to port early at 1040 (having vacated rooms at 0930) and not getting onto the bus until just after noon.

“Well organized without being over organized.”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

This was our first visit to this Unesco listed site. The group was very friendly, not too big and not too hung up on being organized every minute of the day. Activities (kayaking, swimming, visiting a floating village) were fun, but we didn't feel pushed to join in. Food was okay, not up to Hanoi standards, though! We can readily recommend handspan for first time visitors. They like dealing with Aussies, too!

“Cu Chi tunnels day tour was brilliant”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

The day we chose to do the Cu Chi tunnels tour was actually Reunification Day, so it was a busy day with lots of Vietnamese tourist visiting aswell.
This was our second tour with our guide, Hiew and we were pleased to be with him again. He is very informative, and if he is not sure about any information, doesn't know something when you ask, he will go and find out and let you know later on. He seemed to time everything really well, so we arrived just before the big groups/ rushes of people, which made a huge difference to our overall experience as we didn't have to wait in lines, or for other people if we wanted to look at anything.
Hiew is very patient, and doesn't make you feel embarrassed taking photos. He offered to take our photos for us many times during the day.
We were picked up from our hotel at around 8am, and visited the Cu Chi tunnels, War Remnants Museum, and the Reunification Palace. We also stopped for lunch in Ho Chi Minh City, which was tasty. Our tour ran about an hour overtime, and Hiew asked the driver to stop at the markets to pick something up on our way home, which he didn't mind, so considering we only paid $60-$70 per person, this tour was really good value for money.
This tour is really interesting, I learnt so much. I found some of the images in the War Remnants museum very confronting and disturbing, but it really is worth doing. Wear loose comfortable clothing, as it is really humid at the tunnels, and if you go near the firing range it is really loud. Take earplugs if you plan on getting too close. You will have the opportunity to fire an AK-47 and other guns at the firing range. My partner paid around $30USD for his bullets.

“Cycling in the countryside outside Hanoi”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

After enjoying a great trip to Halong Bay on the Treasure Junk, our family of 3 decided to experience a day in the countryside near Ba Vi National Park. We were the only ones on the tour & had a very enthusiastic guide who enjoyed taking us along back roads past rice paddies & tea plantations. We stopped for fresh yogurt, learned a bit more Vietnamese & enjoyed a very tasty lunch. It's a fun opportunity to see a bit of the countryside & the folks who call in home. The mountain bikes were in good shape, although the seats weren't too comfortable.

“An example to all other tour operators...”
Reviewed April 28, 2013 via mobile

...in Vietnam, but also beyond.

My impression of Handspan is one of an authentic, well-researched and considerate tour operator who goes the extra mile... for its customers and those who deliver the tours.

We particularly enjoyed their renovated fishing boat and sea kayaking in Lan La bay - the perfect way to experience one of the truly remarkable sites in Asia (and avoid the tourist trapped and crowded Ha Long!)
