Stayed for 5 nights. Great hotel in the heart of the Old Quarter, very central to shopping, restaurants, lake etc. Good breakfast. Rooms very clean and spacious. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend to stay there.

This little boutique hotel was lovely. It is tucked down a side street but so close to markets and only a short taxi drive from the bigger shopping centres. It is a nice quiet hotel with lovely, friendly staff and a good breakfast selection.

We are seniors and were hesitant about staying in the Old Quarter but we found we thoroughly enjoyed the experience, The hotel was located perfectly for our needs with easy access to food options, shopping, the beautiful lake and other attractions. The staff were friendly and so helpful at all times. We would certainly stay in the hotel again.

Room Tip: We paid to have a window but were upgraded to a suite at no extra cost.

My overall rating is average only because there is no 'Good' rating….
I just could not say Very Good - it just didn't qualify - despite the attentive
and helpful staff.
The breakfast buffet was very good but downstairs in a utilitarian environment.
Our room had an excellent bathroom but the decor felt dated. It wasn't an atmosphere
that I would want to return to.
The pool on the roof was laughable - it was the tiniest hotel pool I have ever seen
and I cannot understand why they would waste the space on it.
The decor of the hotel had a large tour group type of feeling - but location was
excellent - right in the Old Quarter and very near the wonderful Hoan Kiem Lake
which we were drawn to again and again.

Dear Thebritkate,

Thank you for your recent review of Hanoi Tirant Hotel,

We would like to thank you for your appraisal for our staff performance. We do appreciate every guests' comment which can definitely help us to improve our amenities and service. However, we would like to focus on some of your concerns so that a more objective look can be displayed for future customers.

We are a hotel of 63 rooms, so at full occupancy, we serve up to 130 guests per morning. Thus, we want to offer our guests an environment which is spacious and cozy. I believe that even though you find the breakfast area to be utilitarian, you would find the service and food quality to be far exceeding compared to the environment.

We do understand your comment about our hotel decoration; however, one that pleases a particular guest may not be applicable to others. Based on the historical and cultural conditions, we wish to be one of a kind compared to many hotels and hostels around the Old Quarter area.

The pool is tiny yet is an additional feature aimed to add more value for our in-house guests. The reason why the pool is limited in size is because at that height and weight, we can only afford the 21 ton pool. If the pool is bigger than that, it will affect our building structure. We always prefer safety to our guests and ourselves rather than blindly expanding and suffer from consequences later.

Once again, thank you for your comment and we do wish to welcome you again to Tirant Hotel if you would visit our city, Hanoi.

Best regards,

Customer Service Personnel

As a solo senior traveler I recently stayed at this hotel and was very impressed with the service.
My requirements were fulfilled, WiFi in the room (although a computer was also on the desk in
the room), hot pot, safe, air conditioning and even a swimming pool which was not used because it was chilly. The room, 701, was very clean and quiet. Management even provided me with an
adapter to use for my Ipad.
However, I could not stay here again and that has everything to do with the neighborhood. The
throngs of motorcycles, no street lights and constant honking and beeping to warn other cars
and people to watch out was not calming for a senior citizen, even one from New York City!
I even started to take taxicabs to go short walkable distances.
The water puppets were so creative, so good and the Museum of Fine Arts was also
appreciated.
If you are a senior citizen please be careful in this chaotic neighborhood, for younger people
with no difficulty walking, have a ball!

Room Tip: I was on the 7th floor, had nice light from the one window not blocked by construction across the st...

This is first class hotel in the heart of the old quarter. We were amazed at the service. We stayed there three nights, then went on a four day trip, then stayed one night, then went on a four day trip to Sapa. then came back for two nights. When we arrived back at the hotel at six in the morning, and we were really tired after the train, they had our room ready. They pay attention to every detail. The people are very friendly and professional. We would certainly return.

Room Tip: We asked for a room in the back, away from the street. We stayed in room 710, which is very quiet, e...

Great Location ! 40 Minute trip from the airport, and right in the heart of the old town.
The staff on arrival were friendly and a refreshing honey/lemon grass tea on arrival was most welcome. We were travelling in a group of eight and none of our rooms had windows with a view, unless you count a concrete wall! The internet service was very slow, so disappointed reading other reviews claiming it was ultra fast !!!! The restaurant on the top floor has great views over the city, however the food served was ordinary at best. Whilst the swimming pool area had great views the water was cold. The buffet breakfast was standard fare. Nothing particularly wrong with the Hotel, but other reviews appear to be misguided in there claims.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the street to possibly get views.

Dear Richard M,

Thank you for your appraisal about our staff performance.

We would like to display our explanation to some of your concern so that other guests would have an understanding look upon the matters.

First of all, the rooms you originally booked for are the Classic Room, which is in fact have no windows. We have clearly stated this in the room description box in all of our online booking website. We normally try to upgrade room for our guests if we do have rooms available; however, since we were fully booked for quite some time before, we could only delivery the exact rooms as your reservation. If you had booked for other room types, we would definitely have arranged rooms with different characteristics for you.

For the internet service, there was undersea cable cab maintenance; thus, the internet speed is slow, not only at our hotel, but throughout the whole country during the period from 6th to 14th of March. And it is our shortfall for not telling you ahead of time. We are sorry, and we will note this for future preference.

As we have had a chance to discuss these matters, I hope that our motives are clear and that you would come back to stay with us once you revisit Hanoi.

Thank you and best regards,

Customer Service Manager
