“Happy we "splashed out" for final nights in Hanoi”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2014

Experience with this hotel is similar to many others. Beautifully appointed rooms however, our room faced the street so could hear the horns (something you want to be able to escape in Hanoi). The bed and pillows were too soft for my liking but after 4 nights "roughing it" in the Old Quarter the overall experience was great - awesome shower. The pool is great to cool off but not one you'd want to lie around for the afternoon (concrete jungle). Great location allowing you to access all areas of Hanoi plus some great restaurants in the area. Be sure to book your taxi with the concierge as they have a deal with one of the company's for a fixed rate (370k VND) sadly I didn't and paid (500k VND). Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Hanoi.

Room Tip: Get a room which faces into the common area of the hotel (not street facing too noisy)

The Hotel de l'Opera is one of the best choice of hotels in Hanoi. Conveniently located close to the main attractions in Hanoi (Opera, Museum of Vietnamese history, Hoan Kiem Lake), the hotels combines the colonial style with the sophisticated luxury of the M Gallery design. Everything is well thought out: luxurious room, extremely comfortable king-size bed with lavish pillows, excellent quality of toiletries, sumptuous breakfast with both buffet and sophisticated a la carte choices. Staff was extremely caring and nice. The hotel also offers a package combining one night at the hotel and one night in a luxurious boat in Halong Bay with Paradise cruise. The hotel offers a luxurious SPA and pool. Around the hotel, there are various options for lunch or dinner. The Alliance Francaise is located just opposite the hotel.

We (3 of us) stayed in a suite for 3-nights in mid-April. The hotel is located in a wonderful spot making it very easy to walk around the city of Hanoi. However, the noise from the outside traffic was very noticeable and annoying. The breakfast was very average compared with some of the other hotels in the area.

We stayed here - family of 5, 2 rooms with interconnecting doors on level 7. The rooms were large and very spacious. The best room layout during our travels through Vietnam. Wifi was good - easy access and fast!
We visited in 2009 and stayed at the Hilton. Although we were not dissatisfied, we think this hotel is far superior.
Bar area is nice and water fountain adds to the ambience. Only negative comment is that we ordered afternoon tea. The scones and sandwiches were not as fresh as we would have liked. However, the ice cream was delicious.

Dear BrisbaneTimdog,
We are happy to hear that your family enjoyed the relaxing stay with us despite of the issue with the food for afternoon tea. I am very sorry about this neglect, our kitchen team would have bettered to manage the food quality. Thank you for very kind supports and we look forward to better serve you in your next stay.

Good location but rooms really odd..overblown décor, bed so high it needed a footstool to get up..not kidding. Short people or those with bad back, knees beware. Great pillow menu.
Staff so so..didn't believe us when checked out we hadn't used mini bar so held up while they called to check. Breakfast very disappointing.
Niot sure re value..booked via local agent and the hotel refused to provided an invoice when asked at checkout so we could use for Accor club. Said was confidential!!

I pondered whether to give this an average or very good rating. Nothing wrong with our suite which was very well appointed, but even though the windows were double glazed the traffic noise very early in the morning was dreadful.

This is a hotel used by business people as well as holidaymakers, and the first of the two nights we stayed there was a conference with people staying overnight. The following morning the breakfast area just could not cope and it took ages to be seated. Buffet breakfast with plenty of choice, but don't ask for eggs to be specially prepared, they were cold when they arrived.

Much like the title said, a good hotel without being great. Location is excellent, lots of restaurants around and the old quarter is only a 10 minute walk. Staff try really hard, but we've had better service in other hotels on this holiday. Hotel is also located on a busy street and if you have a room facing the road, the traffic noise can be loud at all hours. Rooms are classy but a bit dark, but this is only a minor issue. Good hotel, worth staying at but just not quite good enough to gve 5 stars.
