“Nice, cool oasis in a hot, bustling city”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

It's your run of the mill high-end, chain hotel at a reasonable price. A good restaurant, which does Med-European and Vietnamese menus (the Vietnamese menu comes with Western and Vietnamese Vietnamese sections with different dishes). Good access to the Old City and good service - nothing was too much.
To be recommended!

Room Tip: Definitely higher room to the side give the better view. We had 8th floor to the side for first stay...

Hanoi is a conundrum, it is rich, poor, bustling and interesting. This hotel is a haven, not far from anywhere and with taxis so cheap it isn't a problem. Middle level dining across the road is great. We had a bright room with a view of the Opera House, much better than the inside rooms, I think. Staff are helpful

I stayed a few times at this hotel before and compared to Metropole next door (where i also stayed a few times, first time in 2000), hotel de l'Opera is really good value for money. I always stay in one of their largest rooms, which is huge and has basically two rooms, kitchenette, and two bathrooms. There is a proper dining table and a desk, very convinient for two people. And the view is on the opera house and the main street across from the French Institute. The location is very central and good both for business and tourists. The only drawback is their breakfast service which has not impoved over the years. This morning before I checked out, I struggled to get what I wanted and the tea arrived cold...I spoke to the manager and he promised to improve the service. I hope they will because I am coming back.

Room Tip: Get a room on 6 or higher floor facing the Opera.

I have stayed at the Hotel de l'Opera for an extended business trip of >2 weeks. This is more than enough time to learn the "true colors" of a hotel. I have been consistently and thoroughly impressed by the quality of service anf facilities at this lovely hotel. The rooms are lovely. The beds are divine. The food is delicious. The location is wonderful - just a hop and skip to Hoan Kiem Lake or the Opera House.

But the thing that makes this hotel truly special is the quality of staff and service. They have without question been the most professional, pleasant, and accomodating of any hotel at which I've stayed (and I travel a lot, both for work and fun). I highly recommend this hotel, and will definitely be staying here again if I return to Hanoi.

Bravo to the management for a job well done!

Room Tip: You may want to ask if you will have a courtyard or outside view. If an outside view and your are a...

Excellent rooms, great staff, good beds and nice facilities throughout. The only two things that went awry during our week stay was the plumbing broke on the ground floor (bad smell) one evening, and the restaurant food, whilst plentiful and well made didn't always agree with my stomach.

Room Tip: If travelling with your family, get an adjoining room. Lots of space!
