We spent two weeks exploring the Old Quarter on a budget and used Camel City Hotel as a base. It turned out to be an island of peace, honesty and reliability in Hanoi's chaotic and exciting Old Quarter. The hotel has a great location in a quiet lane with walking distance to the action (Dong Xuan Market, Bia Hoi Corner, Bac Ma Temple, shops and restaurants). The staff is attentive, friendly and honest. Rooms are clean and serviced daily. Bedding and towels are clean and fresh, wifi in the rooms (and computers in the lobby), satellite TV with BBC, CNN and DW etc., hot water and a/c 24 hours.
We would certainly recommend the Camel City Hotel to fellow backpackers and will use it again for our next stay in Hanoi.

We were in Hanoi just for a few hours and we went to the hotel to book the room for three days later (we were going on the same day to Sapa). We could book the room and they let us stay there for a while, use their wi fi, and they even let us have a shower. Which I appreciated so so much.
The room and the breakfast were alright.
Somebody went into our room when we were out and took a piece of furniture. No one in reception gave us any kind of explanation.
We booked two more nights on the next week, but when we arrived there again, the hotel was full and they hadn't kept our room, even though we accepted to book the room after their own advice.

Room Tip: Beaware, they have rooms without window

Camel City Hotel is in a great location. It's in the Old Quarter and, happily, located down an alley, so it's nice and quiet. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Breakfast included coffee or tea, fresh fruit juice, two eggs, toast with butter/jam, and fresh fruit. Our room was on the top/fifth floor. It was cleaned every day. Oh and they arranged a pickup at the airport; it was a pleasant 45 minute ride to the hotel.

It's a petite hotel run by few brothers. I stayed there 4 nights with my husband. we arrived the hotel around 11pm at night and we were shocked when our taxi stopped at the road side and point to the direction of our hotel. I could only see a dark and narrow street where couldn't access by car. however, it's very safe environment.

after i've checked in...it really surprised me....the room is clean, furniture is fine. the next morning when we went down for breakfast (simple breakfast like toast and egg / jam/ butter), the staff will chat with you and provide info on where to go, where to eat.

If i were going hanoi again. I'll definitely choose to stay here again.

had fantastic time. the owner "Hung" is very helpful and friendly. everyone speaks good English. very welcoming on arrival. they were not too pushy about organising a trip but gave great information when we asked and after much searching we ended up booking a halong bay trip through them anyway. all the staff are super friendly and showed us great places to eat. also, perfect location in old quarter of Hanoi.

Amazing hotel in the heart of Hanoi and the staff cannot do enough for you. Great food service and attitude. I highly recommend this location. The breakfast menu is wonderful. I personally recommend the Laos traditional food. The room are cosy with a small balcony and so clean its great. The room decor is modern and contemporary with lovely back lighting in the bedroom.

We stayed there 3 nights with our 3 daughters. The staff was really friendly. They helped us with our luggage (very heavy!) when we left for the bus 2 blocks away. We were even invited to a family meal on the street for a birthday celebration.
The Hotel is in a quiet street but in the heart of the old quarter. You will find very good street food and drought beer just around the corner.
The rooms are clean and with all the facilities you might need: a very good address!
