We book this hotel through Agoda with superior room but we upgraded to suit room with the best city view.
The location is perfect because near lots local food restaurant, shopping. Just a walk to Hoan Kiem lake and Old Quarter. The breakfast at hotel was not much to choose.
We will book a hotel in a Old Quarter when we come back Ha Noi.
The service here really nice...the room is clean. The staff here will give you advice on your trip schedule.Location also very strategic. You can do shopping by just step out from the hotel. I stayed there 4 nights. We were happy on the service provided by the hotel
If you like to be treated as if you were at home then the Hanoi Royal View is the place for you. The people here treat you like you are one of their family... seriously. In every thing they do for you, they take the same care and consideration, as if you were a sibling. I only stayed a couple of nights, but I will be staying there when I return to Hanoi.
My room had recently been renovated so had modern shower ensuite. Room had king bed, a bit stiff like all beds in Hanoi; very neat and clean with some complimentry fruit and a good airconditioner. Adequate mini-bar, tea jug, and IN ROOM LAPTOP WITH FREE WIFI. Some of the big hotels could take some advice from this homely hotel.
Just a block or so from the lake the location is perfect, as it is also close to eateries, bars etc, including some of the ones recognised by Lonley Planet. Getting there is easy, just a few blocks from a drop off from the Airport Shuttle bus (40,000D from Airport A$2) .
Be aware this is a small comfortable hotel, well located, with caring attentive staff; not a large conglomerate, and not a party house. The perfect respite from the Hanoi hussle.
I have stayed in other hotels in the Old Quarter and think you can do better for your money.
Location is great, but my windowless room had a bad smell in the bathroom thinly masked by an automatic air freshener on the wall. The drain was clogged in the shower, but fixed quickly and the bedside spotlights could not be positioned in a way that allowed me to read.
I found the staff OK but not outstanding, Breakfast was fine.
I come to Hanoi regularly and will try somewhere else next time.
I travel about once a year to Hanoi, staying anywhere from 2 weeks to a month and have always stayed at Hanoi Royal View. I volunteer for a nonprofit that works with poor families in the area and that staff have been VERY accommodating toward all of our various needs. They are very friendly, personable, and always respectful.
Great location right by Hoan Kiem Lake and tons of Restaurants. The hotel is clean and well managed. I can't say enough about how great the staff are. They are constantly cracking us up! And they are great with kids, we have tons of children and families coming in and out and they have been amazing.
Breakfast has something for everyone. They have eggs to order, and everything else on a buffet-type setup. For a westerner they have traditional breakfast of toast, fruit, eggs, meat of some kind, etc. They also prepare Vietnamese dishes as well like fried rice, spring rolls, meats, pho, bread, yogurt, etc.
It's not a fancy hotel, although it has upscaled from their latest remodel. It is a great price for what you are getting. My only complaint, shared with my travel partners, would be that the beds are a bit hard, though not unbearable. Also there is occasional street noise that filters in but we were on the second floor which may have been why.
However, the showers are always hot and have great pressure. If we've had any problem the front desk is prompt and sends someone up immediately for a clogged drain, etc. They have laptops in the rooms and free wifi which is great for people on business. We never had a problem with internet, and its a fast connection. We were able to skype, etc. without any problems.
Location was awesome. Situated in the "Shoes" District. It's a few minutes walk to the Old Quarter and the Lake as well as many coffee joints nearby.
One can easily get lost in the OQ. It's part of the fun in exploring the city.
The assigned room was on the 3rd floor with a balcony and faced the street. The bathroom was newly renovated and pretty modern. Flat screen TV and the room even came with a laptop computer.
What bugged the xxxx out of me was the 7:30am "alarm clock" that couldn't be turned off! There were some sort of government broadcast messages that came on the street PA system. I don't understand Vietnamese but heard the name "ho chi minh" mentioned no less than a dozen time during the 15 to 20 minutes broadcast. Had no idea where the speakers were placed on the street but I'm sure the gov wants their citizens to wake up at a certain time.
Then again, it wasn't the hotel's fault.
I got no pressure from the hotel to join any of the tours cuz' I looked like shxt by the time i reached Hanoi after 2 weeks on the road.
Breakfast was offered but never tried. I'd much rather spent the time and $ eating pho and VN style coffee off the street.
