We really enjoyed our trip on Indochina Sails. Everything was arranged perfectly from the pick up at our hotel in Hanoi to drop off at another hotel in Hanoi. The cruise itself was great as well. Booking direct with the cruise company was also great as we had everything included, where others that had booked through another agency had to pay for some extras such as wine tasting etc. We only wished time had allowed to extend our cruise to a 3 day one, but maybe we will have a chance to return some day. Also great service, and very very interesting to talk to the general manager and our guide for the two days.

A very well organised company with smooth arrangements. Payment and confirmation online was good with quick e mail to arrange hotel pick up. The 4 hour drive from Hanoi is not too pleasant with some crazy overtaking and speeding, paying extra for the car (which I did on return) rather then the mini bus is probably worth it. There is a pleasant waiting room at Halong and before long you are on the tender and on the boat. The company is run by an American who lives on the fleet, rotating each day to check standards. Staff are very good and smiling, food and drink excellent - even for special diets. The cabin is wood panelled, good air con and very clean. Worth the extra for larger room. It’s amazing to lie in bed and watch the islands pass by! The itinerary is good and the islands are beautiful. Transfer to the day boat for day two, the day boat is actually quite big. Kayaking and swimming an option although look out for the jelly fish in the spring. The island with the beach was a bit crowded and was a bit surprised the water wasn't so clear or so blue as expected. The onboard safety is good, main risks are during foggy spells, having read some of the past events was well prepared and sought out lifejackets, flotation gears and exits. Don't bother with the one night cruise, its simply not sufficient time, two nights is the best option and you see so much more as well as not having to endure the car journey on two consecutive days. Indochina appear to be, quite rightly, one of the Halong cruise leaders and are well recommended.

Mum & I recently had the pleasure to go on Indochina Sails Premium deluxe room. WOW ! how fantastic, the rooms are a comfortable size, beds comfortable and a huge lovely bathroom with great windows to view the sights whilst having a laze. The food was fantastic and the included
itinerary worked well. We met some really nice people and none of us wanted to leave the boat.
Now I understand when people say do 2 nights - 1 is not enough. I'm sorry we didn't do 2. The staff were attentive and the prices for cocktails a reasonable price. I totally recommend this company and this boat. If you can do 2 nights:)

What an amazing time on-board these luxurious junks. The accomadations, the rooms are HUGE and the bathrooms are larger than most oceanliner staterooms! The food was delicious, the views incomparable and the available activities well organized and just plain fun. Went kayaking and hiking, swimming and squid-jigging. What a great time, great crew, great outfit.

We stayed on the Indochina Sails Premium boat in a deluxe cabin on the 2nd Floor, doing the 3 day/2 night tour.

Firstly, I really recommend doing 2 nights instead of 1 - the full day out is relaxing and interesting, and less 'touristy' than the 1 night tour. And don’t worry about sea sickness – the water in the bay is very calm, and the boat moves really slowly.

The boat itself is beautiful, in perfect condition (it is only 1.5 years old) with a lovely lounge and dining area and a great sundeck on top. My only request would be for a few more umbrellas on the sun deck. Our cabin had a large and comfortable bed, with a jacuzzi bath and separate rain shower. The room was spacious considering it is a cabin on a boat! It has a small balcony, and although there is no space to sit out on the balcony we didn't mind this because the sundeck is so nice and has better views. We had a large suitcase and had no problem keeping it in our cabin. There is a cupboard with a safe. They even provided flip flops in the cabins! I really liked the decor on the boat - dark wood, comfy chairs and loungers, lots of big windows inside.

The food was great quality - either set menu or big buffets were served. On the first night, we found the food to be excellent - grilled chilli squid, BBQ ribs, baked stuffed crab and lots of other fresh seafood, salads, meats, rice and noodles. The second night it was slightly different but almost as good. Breakfast and lunch was also really good quality. We did have to pay extra for drinks but I am fine with this as I don't drink a lot of alcohol so don't want this included in my price. They did a wine tasting session in the evenings, and a happy hour from 9pm so we took advantage then and tried the cocktails. The staff are really friendly and helpful, giving out free water to everyone before each of the excursions.

The full day out for the people staying 2 nights was the best. There were only 10 of us staying 2 nights, so we were transferred to a smaller day boat (also had a nice dining area, sun deck etc.) where we first went swimming and kayaking (they chose a swimming spot that had no jelly fish or litter, it was lovely), showed us some caves, took us to a floating fishing village (there is some litter in the water around the fishing village, but this is not something the boat company can control) which was really interesting, and to a pearl farm. And finally some more swimming. It was a relaxing day, and the set lunch they served us was amazing. The staff on the day boat were so fun and friendly, and also told us lots about life in the fishing village.

Considering the quality of the food and service, and the beautiful condition of the boat and cabin I felt this trip was worth what we paid for it, even if it is not as cheap by comparison to other things in Vietnam.
