“Fun night out on "Food on Foot Tour"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2014

This tour was fantastic in every way. Our guide, Johnny, was a fun[ny] and knowledgable guide. He seems to know just about everyone in Hanoi. We went to a lot of restaurants and street vendors during this tour. The food choices are informed by the group's collective taste and daring. If you want to try more adventurous types of food, please let the guide know. This is excellent value for $25, and we walked away filled to the brim. I had to unbuckle my belt just to make room for more food! There were 8 of us on the tour, 6 of whom were strangers to us, but no matter. By the end of the tour we became fast friends. I highly recommend this tour on the first day of your trip to Hanoi. You will want to go back to some of the places you visit on this tour (especially for the egg coffee!).

“Awesome Food Tour with Johnny”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2014

This was definitely one of the highlights of our visit to Hanoi and very interesting. Johnny our guide was great. He knew the best places to take us to and was very informative with his local knowledge. 25 us dollar for a four hour trip included all food and drinks. Great day, make sure you are hungry before you go.

“Food on Foot tour Hanoi”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 11, 2014

What a great way to start a visit to Hanoi. As an introduction to the local food and to the old part of the city this is just great. You are met at your accommodation by the tour guide, taken to a number of their favourite eateries for the dishes they like and hope you will too. It is a trail of food sampling for about three or more hours - basically till you are too full to continue. The food costs are all paid by the guide - part of the US25 cost for the tour. It was great, just a pity that a couple in our group were not at all adventurous in their eating, often not even prepared to try things. Still, the rest of us did really well, consuming fried crickets as well as quite a number of less adventurous dishes. On top of all this it gives you a great chance to get to grips with crossing the street. That in itself can be a challenge, but with guidance much easier. So thanks Trung, our guide for the tour - well done and much enjoyed. I was tired as had flown overnight, and took the evening tour after arrival, still well worthwhile. Definitely a must do for first timers to Hanoi.

“Yummy food and excellent guide!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2014 via mobile

Two families ( 9 people) did this wonderful tour the day after arriving in Hanoi from Australia. Our guide, Yen firstly educated us about how to cross the roads so that we could survive our time in Hanoi and secondly took us to wonderful places to entice the taste buds! We stopped for a variety of drinks and foods, from sitting on the pavement to local Vietnamese restaurants to a more upmarket one. We had about 4 hours of fun, laughter and started our holiday knowing where and what to eat. I would highly recommend this tour and Yen was a gem!

“Enjoyable night doing food on foot”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2014 via mobile

We did a food on foot tour, and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We tasted some great food, as well as some interesting food we wouldn't usually think to try. Also, the lady taking our tour personalized it by asking what type of food we like. I love desserts so she took us to two dessert places. My only complaint is that it was a little random. She just takes you from shop to shop to eat food. There is no explanation about the ingredients, or maybe the traditions of the food and why the Vietnamese eat specific foods. That would have made the tour much better. Just going from restaurant to restaurant trying foods is something we could have done on our own. We wanted more history and interesting stories. Overall, we had a good group that night and had a fun experience. If you're not going to try street food on your own I would suggest doing this tour.
