We booked Spark Hotel from an online booking service because of its price, apparent value for money and location- which were all fantastic- but what blew us away was the service provided to us by Kenny (which if I could rate as 7 star on trip advisor I would).

Kenny and the staff at Spark provided us with accurate information about Hanoi, booked us a fantastic tour to Halong Bay on Opera Cruises (and arranged a VIP room for us for no extra cost), organised for our laundry was done within hours, booked our train tickets to Sapa for us at a great rate and showed us to our carriage on the train (even though we did not book our Sapa accommodation/tour through Spark) . The hospitality of Spark hotel, from the smaller touches of providing us with glasses of bottled water anytime we were in the lobby, to letting us use a room at no cost to refresh between our Halong Bay tour and catching an evening train to Sapa, could not be faulted.

Spark's rooms are what you would expect from a mid-range hotel. There were some new funky touches, such as a frosted glass bathroom walls and great wall paper. Some aspects of the room appeared to be worn- however this was of no particular concern as the room was clean and the air conditioning worked well.

If I returned to Hanoi I would stay at Spark again- and I'd be happy to recommend the hotel to family and friends as I'd be confident that Kenny would provide them with a level of service that I doubt would be matched by other mid-range hotels in Hanoi.

Service is good & friendly & room is clean. Conveniently located, right in the middle of old town where all the activities are. Most important of all, it is very affordable for budget conscious travelers.

We arrived late from HCM, Hanoi was cold and wet. We were tired. We had booked a hotel but having not been to Hanoi before we had no experience of what was available or location. We arrived at our hotel which didn't have a room for us. Frustrated after a long day. They took us to another hotel near by, it was not to out liking but we resolved to sleep that night and find a better hotel the next day. My partner is VN so she found a place quickly. I was happy to arrive at the Hanoi spark hotel. Excellent welcome from the managers and staff. Nice little hotel, clean, quiet, comfortable. Management and staff made us very welcome and we would certainly go back there again.

Compared to hotel or motel rooms in Australia which charge 3 to 4 times the price and of which we have much experience, our room at the Hanoi Spark hotel was superior. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean with en suite facilities to match. What delighted us most was the friendly and professional service of the entire staff. Johnny, Kenny and Jenny form a formidable team. The way in which our tours and transfers were organised was remarkable Nothing was too much trouble to the extent that when we needed emergency dental treatment Johnny organised an escort who stayed with us the whole time to interpret and see us safely home. We have never had a more interesting or happier stay anywhere.

Room Tip: Front rooms have street views ; rear are quieter

Lovely new hotel in a great location in the Old Quarter, walking distance to the lake and other city sights. My room was very spacious with a wonderful bed and big bathroom (though a curtain on the bathroom window would be nice) with aircon & heating, lots of hot water and a big tv. The breakfast was alright and the staff were very eager to please and assist, even helping me when I was sick with a nasty cold/cough. They can also book you tours but won't push it too much with you if you aren't interested. Quiet and close to lots of food options. The Manager, Mr Kenny, is extremely helpful and friendly, and his staff are professional. I had a lovely stay.
