We were on the last city of a 15 day trip with 37 others on Gate1.
There were 7 of us that went to Au Lac, on recommendation of our tour guide. It is supposed to be a fusion of Vietnamese/French. Restaurant was excellent, as was the service. They understood what was asked, service was prompt, and they knew enough to leave us alone at times.
We each ordered something and then shared, family style. Highlight was a 1kg groupa (fish), which was brought to our table and the 'final' cooking stage done there. Excellent food all around.
Probably the restaurant is a bit more expensive than others, but well worth it.
Others from our tour group came in later, and sat out on the veranda and said it was very pleasant out there and they also raved about the food and service.
Total bill with 2 soft drinks (wine paid separately) for 7 people was about $105 US
