Sat out on the veranda in this old house. Had exceptional food and service. The staff were very pleasant and looked after us. The food was presented beautifully! Highly recommend.

Charming old house, beautifully converted and well maintained. Excellent Vietnamese food, lovely place altogether.

Luck of the draw on a tour package had us dine [Two Grand Parents, and Daughter’s and husband’s family of 3 boys] at Au Lac House in central Hanoi. Could not have picked a better restaurant myself, all enjoyed their luncheon selections. Also enjoyable was several casual conversations with staff members. Was our first stop upon arriving in Hanoi and really set the mood for the entire trip.

In the middle of Hanoi this is an old French Colonial House. Upstarts are large dining rooms with high ceilings but the best place is on the terrace. Service was a little abrupt but acceptable. Rice paper rolls with shrimp was fresh but bland. Charcoal grilled suckling pig was disappointing and nothing like as good as Chinatown in London. Eggplant and ground pork in a clay pot was the best dish we had. Stir fried morning glory in garlic was alright. Hanoi beer was good, desert, a creme caramel was tasteless. Would not go again, not expensive but not really very good. US45 for two.

Went there with 4 other work colleagues tonight. The restaurant is located in an old French colonial villa with tall ceilings, ceiling fans, but is, thankfully, air-conditioned as well. It's authentic Vietnamese food and we had the requisite fresh and deep-fried spring rolls as well as other entrees. The food was good but our desserts weren't. I ordered the mango with sticky rice and my colleagues ordered the chocolate ice cream. All were disappointing. We all loved the atmosphere and the service was attentive. The price was about US$110 for 5 persons including drinks. We had an enjoyable time.
