“Nice place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2011

The place is located in the center of the old quarter. You can go from most of the site in the area by just walking. If you need to take a cab, it is also accessible since its near the main road. The hotel has good service with friendly people. Cozy room with internet access and wifi.

All in all, our stay at the Royal Palace was extremely positive. The rooms were well furnished and large and were even supplied with a desktop computer and free internet access. You know the sort of room? When you first walk in it's all "wooooohhhhh, check this out and look at the bathroom!"

Tucked away in a great near-central location, the hotel provided much welcome respite from the busy streets. A pleasant sanctuary for weary travelers, holiday-makers and business trippers.

The staff seemed to go that extra mile to make sure that our stay there was pleasant and we were provided with a complimentary breakfast and tea/coffee juice and fruit around the clock.

My girlfriend and I spent a lovely birthday weekend here and were sad to leave.

Hotel Review
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome/Check-In:
Arrived after 17 hours of traveling and layovers. Got picked up at the airport by the hotel no problems -- charge was $15. Drive from airport to Old Quarter Hanoi was about 45 minutes plus or minus (traffic or not).

Checking in was easy. Was served a welcome drink. Got our room and settled in.

Room Cleanliness:
Room was super clean. Queen sized bed, AC, fridge, free wi-fi, and a computer in the room which was great.

Bathroom Cleanliness:
Clean bathroom WITH A SEPARATE SHOWER which is important to us.

Location:
Great location -- not tooooo close to the hustle and bustle of the center of the Old District but not far either. About a 10 minute walk from the lake, but we loved coming home and not being in the "center" of the noise and the people.

Staff:
The staff at this hotel was friendly. They even accompanied us to the train station and made sure we got on the right train, and into the right berths that we booked.

Hang-ups:
Our second leg back to Hanoi from Sapa, we decided to stay here again. We made our bookings a month in advance -- but upon arriving back at the hotel the 2nd time, they informed us that they did not have our rooms available and that they had overbooked. They offered their sister hotel by the lake called Happy Hanoi Hotel (http://www.hanoihappyhotel.com/default.aspx). We were disappointed but as they were really apologetic and promised the same price per room, we accepted and were taken to the sister hotel. Review for this hotel is provided as well.

I arrived in Hanoi airport and had arranged a pick up by the hotel, and i had email confirmation of our stay for 6 days. Despite this, we were not picked up at the airport and they had no record of our stay and said there was no room for us. The hotel did look nice, however I was not happy that we were stuffed around. At least we were transferred to a nice hotel, Hanoi Tirant Hotel, which was excellent. I would not recommend this hotel as I know that other customers had made reservations also and were told there was no room for them (the same as us). What is the point in makng a reservation if they don't reserve a room for you?!

My husband and I travel quite a bit each year. This hotel is one of our favourites. From the large, clean room, to the amenities (tv, computer, internet, breakfast) to the staff, it was a pleasure. Staff were great and often went out of their way to help us. Side trips and tours were all arranged at no extra cost, and there was always a room for us when we returned. One night was unexpectedly cold, so the night manager went and found us another quilt. Thanks to all the staff especially Ms. Hoa and the young man who picked us up at the train station at 4:30 am. This is a fabulous hotel and we would highly recommend staying here.

My husband and I travel quite a bit each year. This hotel was one of our favourites. Not only was the location great, the hotel was clean but the staff were great. Can't say enough positive comments about our stay and the staff. We used the hotel as a base for the 2 weeks that we were in Vietnam and it began to feel like home, mainly because of the staff. Location was great and at night the noise was not too bad. Room was cold one night so the night manager went and found us another quilt. Included was breakfast, a large immaculately kept room, great view, tv (with English channels) and a computer, internet for our use. All of our trips, transfers were arranged by the hotel at no extra cost. We would highly recommend this hotel. A thank all of the staff and especially to Ms. Hoa for all of her help and the young man that picked us up at the train station at 4:30 am. Our stay was fantastic.

We arrived in Royal Palace Hotel just looking on the web for one night accomodation once arrived in Hanoi...and we decided to stay more nights: it was the lucky choice! Rooms are good value, very clean, quite big with a nice and modern bathroom. For a right price you'll have many facilities, such as a laptop with free high speed internet, hairdryer, tea, coffe and juice all over the day, a big bed with immaculate linen. Breakfast is full choice of different kind of foods. But what is a real "plus" is the staff, especially Miss Hoa: she can organize all the tours you want, booking flight, train, bus tickets, other hotels all over vietnam; I can say she's probably the best frontdesk woman I've met during my trips...she's really listening to help you finding the best solution for doesn't matter which problem. During our stay the staff was helpful, flexible to our programs and it was the high season. Always kind, smiling people, and Miss Hoa followed up by sms and email our trip (that she helped us booking). More, the location of the hotel is just few minutes walking to the old quarters but in a narrow road more quiet than the biggest ones, so you can get around in Hanoi traffic and restore yourself once back in the hotel. One suggestion: ask for a room with a window on the road, the other option is an internal window.
