Description: Located on the top floor of Hanoi La Siesta Diamond hotel, the Gourmet Corner restaurant boast the finest view of Hanoi from the 12th floor, overlooking Hoan Kiem Lake, the Red River and the ever-growing skyline of Hanoi. The Gourmet Corner food menu is the combination of Vietnamese and some Western favorites. Our Vietnamese food options mostly are the dishes from the North. In northern Vietnam, a colder climate limits the production and availability of spices. As a result, the foods are often less spicy than those in other regions, especially the middle part of Vietnam. Black pepper is used in place of chili as the most popular ingredient to produce spicy flavors. Also, coriander is used commonly in most dishes. In general, northern Vietnamese cuisine is not bold in any particular taste - sweet, salty, spicy, bitter, or sour. Most northern Vietnamese foods feature light and balanced flavors that result from subtle combinations of many different flavoring ingredients. “One of the best restaurants with the best service we had in Vietnam!”
Reviewed March 13, 2014

Staying at the hotel we had a deal that gave us a complimentary dinner at the restaurant. The deal included a choice of one of three set menu options and choosing option one that came with pork, (we were craving meat!) we were delighted. The pork meat came in a hot clay pot and was so tender like lamb and with a soup, speciality salad and rice as sides, we were more than satisfied. Furthermore, the flavours of each dish were exceptional and so fresh. We had no ideas about the great reviews on tripadvisor and no seeing them, I understand why. The food (and service) was fabulous. And the restaurant is intimate, classy and very charming with white tablecloths, pink lillies and soft ambient lighting, not to mention the lovely hanoi city views.

HIghly recommend this restaurant so much so that we dined there the next night to order off off the Vietnamese menu (they also have great western food) and we recommened and took another couple we met to have dinner at this restaurant. The spring rolls here are divine as was the cashew nut chicken stirfry and the french chocolate cake dessert! The staff also couldnt do enough for you. A MUST try!!!

Furthermore, this place is great value with average price of vietnamese dishes being about 100-180 dong from memory which in aussie dollars is about $6-$9/10 a dish.

Tip: Make a booking as this place fills fast! Last order 9.45pm I think it was.

Also a great hotel to stay at too- value for money, god service and classy rooms.

“Lovely views over the old quarter”
Reviewed March 13, 2014

The food, wine and service was excellent. Definitely need to book a table and if possible try and get one on the left hand side of the restaurant as you walk in as this side has better views. Wine price was reasonable for a restaurant.

“Should be no.1”
Reviewed March 13, 2014

There's always a bit of trepidation when you visit a top ranked restaurant from Trip Advisor.

Will it live up to the hype?... well this place exceeded expectations.

From the moment you walk in you are made to feel at home, the place has a modern but cosy ambience and the staff make you feel so welcome.

Our waitress Sabrina was honestly one of the nicest people we met in Vietnam, funny and helpful without ever being overbearing, the perfect combination.

The food was fantastic from start to finish.

We only wish we had come back again on our last night, rather than go to Essence (the no.1 rated on TA), which was a disappointment after this.

Lovely restaurant with views across Hanoi. The food is excellent - with all our requests (no meat or peanuts)catered for. The service is exquisite, friendly, helpful and charming.

An excellent experience
