Description: Located on the top floor of Hanoi La Siesta Diamond hotel, the Gourmet Corner restaurant boast the finest view of Hanoi from the 12th floor, overlooking Hoan Kiem Lake, the Red River and the ever-growing skyline of Hanoi. The Gourmet Corner food menu is the combination of Vietnamese and some Western favorites. Our Vietnamese food options mostly are the dishes from the North. In northern Vietnam, a colder climate limits the production and availability of spices. As a result, the foods are often less spicy than those in other regions, especially the middle part of Vietnam. Black pepper is used in place of chili as the most popular ingredient to produce spicy flavors. Also, coriander is used commonly in most dishes. In general, northern Vietnamese cuisine is not bold in any particular taste - sweet, salty, spicy, bitter, or sour. Most northern Vietnamese foods feature light and balanced flavors that result from subtle combinations of many different flavoring ingredients. PS: Please be informed that your reservation request by email will be answered within 24 working hours or later depend on our work-load at that moment. Any urgent booking request should be made through the phone call. We are sorry for any inconvenience may cause.

“My best overseas experience yet!”
Reviewed January 11, 2014

Those visiting Hanoi definitely have to give this place a try. Authentic Vietnamese food, an attentive waitress, a mind-blowing view with the warm & cozy ambiance makes this an unforgettable experience.

First thing our waitress did was to introduce herself. Sabrina may look young, not very fluent in English & maybe a little tired, but her memory's superb. We ordered about 12 items off the menu & she didn't even have to write them down. Mind you, my boyfriend & I just pointed to whatever we saw & told her how we wanted them done (most were beef).

In less than 10 minutes, we were served. She remembered which soup/drink each of us ordered, served the appetizers with small plates & serving spoons, taught us the traditional way of eating the foods, then served the respective desserts. I swear, this dinner we had on the very first day of 2014 made my year. The ingredients were fresh, beef all cooked to perfection... What more could I have asked for?

Our dear Sabrina even spared her precious time to give us recommendations on the dishes/places we might like after some of the patrons left. This girl put a smile on our faces for the rest of our trip. Even if I'm not going back to Vietnam soon, I might just take half a day to transit from there so we can go back.

P.S. Make a reservation. You get your pick of the lake or river view.

“Amazingly good!”
Reviewed January 11, 2014

It's difficult to know where to begin telling you just how good a restaurant experience this was. Let's start with the service. It was great! Our waitress was helpful, attentive, informative and extremely sweet. She directed us to a rice pancake appetizer which was the best Vietnamese roll that we had in our two weeks here. For entrees we had a bread crumb beef dish which was both unusual and good, and a snakehead fish steak with saffron sauce which was some of the most delicious fish that we had ever tasted. Everything about the meal was too notch. You couldn't possibly go wrong here...plus the wine selections were well priced.

“Best dinner our in Hanoi”
Reviewed January 11, 2014

Of the restaurants we ate dinner in whilst in Hanoi for 3 nights, this was the best. Excellent service, delicious food and great location high up above the chaos below! Bottle of Malbec was US$24 which was about average for imported wine in restuarants. The shrimp roles were delicious ($5) and the Vietnamese Grilled Beef ($8) (served in a bamboo stick) was unique, tender and full of flavour. The lolot leave-wrapped beef ($7) was a slight disappointment only because it was quite a small portion, but as I got to finish off my wife's grilled beef, I did not leave hungry. Would definitely recommend.
