Description: Located on the top floor of Hanoi La Siesta Diamond hotel, the Gourmet Corner restaurant boast the finest view of Hanoi from the 12th floor, overlooking Hoan Kiem Lake, the Red River and the ever-growing skyline of Hanoi. The Gourmet Corner food menu is the combination of Vietnamese and some Western favorites. Our Vietnamese food options mostly are the dishes from the North. In northern Vietnam, a colder climate limits the production and availability of spices. As a result, the foods are often less spicy than those in other regions, especially the middle part of Vietnam. Black pepper is used in place of chili as the most popular ingredient to produce spicy flavors. Also, coriander is used commonly in most dishes. In general, northern Vietnamese cuisine is not bold in any particular taste - sweet, salty, spicy, bitter, or sour. Most northern Vietnamese foods feature light and balanced flavors that result from subtle combinations of many different flavoring ingredients. “Good food, nice ambience, great service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2013

We went to The Gourmet Corner after a friend's recommendation and its high rating on Trip Advisor. For those intending to have a meal there, I would recommend making a reservation as the place was packed on the evening we were there.

We went for the set meal and ordered a burger ala carte. The shrimp spring rolls (starter) were great, the best we tasted during our short stay in Vietnam. The main course that came with the set was a bacon wrapped beef (Australian ribeye) with asparagus. It was delicious. We were disappointed with the burger, and informed the waitress when she asked for feedback while clearing our plates.

And as most of the other reviews have mentioned, their service was top notch. Firstly, based on our feedback, the manager came by and apologized for the burger. He promptly offered to waive the charge for the burger and suggested something else as a replacement.

There was a thunderstorms as we were leaving the restaurant. The manager asked us if we were intending to take a cab back to our hotel. He then proceeded to make arrangements with the hotel reception to call a cab for us. When the cab arrived, the staff at the hotel reception sheltered us to the cab and gave the driver instructions to bring us back to our hotel.

In all, visit The Gourmet Corner if you want to have a meal in a nicely decorated restaurant, with good food, great views of the Old Quarter and excellent customer service.

“Great views of the city, very friendly and accomodating staff!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2013

Quite busy when we arrived so had to wait for an hour before we could order, however we had seats out on the rooftop bar, a bottle of wine and great views of the city while we were waiting so it added to the experience. Possibly book ahead if you dont want to wait. The food was delicious and very attentive staff. Prices not bad for what you get but obvoiusly more expensive than average. If you have a few days in Hanoi I would reccommend this for a special night!

“Splendid!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

Thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant! (Family with teenage children)

Went for sundowners on the terrace before a delightful meal. Views from the terrace are excellent - high enough for great perspective over Hanoi, but not so high that it's disconnected from the street sounds below.

Inside during the meal Service was attentive but relaxed, with an engaging desire to assist.
Food was superb and whilst not cheap, I would say good value. Would eat there again in a heartbeat.
