Description: Located on the top floor of Hanoi La Siesta Diamond hotel, the Gourmet Corner restaurant boast the finest view of Hanoi from the 12th floor, overlooking Hoan Kiem Lake, the Red River and the ever-growing skyline of Hanoi. The Gourmet Corner food menu is the combination of Vietnamese and some Western favorites. Our Vietnamese food options mostly are the dishes from the North. In northern Vietnam, a colder climate limits the production and availability of spices. As a result, the foods are often less spicy than those in other regions, especially the middle part of Vietnam. Black pepper is used in place of chili as the most popular ingredient to produce spicy flavors. Also, coriander is used commonly in most dishes. In general, northern Vietnamese cuisine is not bold in any particular taste - sweet, salty, spicy, bitter, or sour. Most northern Vietnamese foods feature light and balanced flavors that result from subtle combinations of many different flavoring ingredients. I liked the food but most of all I liked the courteous, knowledgeable and enthusiastic young staff. Good value for money too.

“A must visit for good food in Hanoi”
Reviewed November 28, 2012 via mobile

My husband & I have been travelling through Asia for the last month. The best meal by far was here. The considerate staff take time to tell you about the local cuisine, ingredients & how to assemble the dishes.
Try the Hanoi pancake spring roll, you won't regret it.

“Great View and Food”
Reviewed November 28, 2012

The staff and service here was outstanding. The view worth the visit. The outside balcony which had the best view is very small and I would recommend booking although we did jag a table after about 10mins. Food was very good and whilst expensive by Hanoi standards was still cheaper than in Australia. We shared a creme brulee that was to die for, double size from usual and cost $2.50. Yum

“Great service and views above chaos of Hanoi”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

The Gourmet Corner is on the 12th Floor of a hotel in the Old Quarter of Hanoi. This means you get a view across the roof-tops of the city and are well out of the chaos of the city itself. After a few days this means an hour or two away from the moped horns - which is welcome.

The restaurant is well maintained and the food excellent. The staff are friendly and judge the level of service perfectly. There's also no sign of smoking being permitted in the restaurant which is a bonus over here in Hanoi where the smoker rules!

We'd certainly visit this restaurant again.

“Lives up to its reputation!”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

Good local food, reasonable prices, great views. The restaurant staff even made 4 napkin candles for our table, impressing the kids no end! Even though I was full (big servings), after I tasted my son's home made passionfruit ice cream, I had to have some for dessert too.
