Description: SPECIAL: To celebrate the coming festive season, on 24-25 Dec and 31 Dec - 1 Jan 2017, we are going to serve the Special Set menus only. We shall send you a copy of the set menus by email per reservation request. Please kindly send your request to our official email address on this website. The Gourmet Corner restaurant located on the top floor of Hanoi La Siesta Diamond hotel, which boast the finest view of Hanoi from the 12th floor, overlooking Hoan Kiem Lake, the Red River and the ever-growing skyline of Hanoi. The Gourmet Corner food menu is the combination of Vietnamese and some Western favorites. Our Vietnamese food options mostly are the dishes from the North. In northern Vietnam, a colder climate limits the production and availability of spices. As a result, the foods are often less spicy than those in other regions, especially the middle part of Vietnam. Black pepper is used in place of chili as the most popular ingredient to produce spicy flavors. Also, coriander is used commonly in most dishes. In general, northern Vietnamese cuisine is not bold in any particular taste - sweet, salty, spicy, bitter, or sour. Most northern Vietnamese foods feature light and balanced flavors that result from subtle combinations of many different flavoring ingredients. PS: Please be informed that your reservation request by email will be answered within 24 working hours or later depend on our work-load at that moment. Any urgent booking request should be made through the phone call. We are sorry for any inconvenience may cause.

We decided to try gourmet corner based on trip advisors reviews and it was worth the trek across the old quarter (including getting lost). Arriving without a booking we were shown to the terrace which was actually preferable for us, a lovely outdoor setting with 4 tables & views over Hanoi. It was a little oasis yet we could still hear the buzz of the city.
I was there with my friend, and we both ordered fresh spring rolls for entrees - really good. I ordered the fish and vermicelli that came with rice paper to make my own spring rolls and it was all delicious. In hindsight I wouldn't have ordered the starters as too much food.
So two starters, 2 mains and a bottle of sparkling rose (it was actually very good) set us back just under $50 USD which I thought was very reasonable, particularly given the quality of the food and service. Not to mention the view.
Thx ;)

A real haven and a very welcome 'find'. There aren't too many appetising places to eat in Hanoi; most seem at best unwelcoming... at worst incompetent and unsanitary. But this place is a dream, sat atop the Elegance Hotel with commanding views over the lake. Surprisingly excellent and affordable wine list and well-prepared food from an eclectic menu catering both for those with more adventurous Oriental tastes and those who prefer safer Western favourites. Superbly friendly and helpful staff, relaxed vibe, comfortable and elegant surroundings... and fab air conditioning!! Make it your first reservation in town... and prepare to be disappointed anywhere else.

I am so glad we found this little restaurant, we ate here as it was at one of the sister hotels to our accomodation so we recieved a discount off their already very reasonaly priced menu!

The restaurant is at the top of thHanoi Elgance hotel and as such as superb views over Hanoi, its not really a high rise city so you could see a lot from the terrace and tables by the windows.
The restaturant is furnoshed to a high standard and not too big so was a very peaceful and pleasant choice for a meal.
We stuck to the Vietnamses options, the nem and shrimp pancake rolls were incredible! The shrimp pancake was one of my favourite meals whilst in Vitenam. The mains were equally good. We had a few cocktails and beers and wiith a discount paid around $25 for the meal, very reasonable given the surroundings and quality of the food and drinks.

The staff were exceptional, very welcoming and friendly. This is a great little spot if you fancy a night away from dodging mopeds and cars and having a break from all the horns!

We used tripadvisor to find a Vietnamese restaurant with a view. The view is lovely, especially from the terrace. The food was beautiful, we loved the rice paper rolls so mu
Ch that we ordered a second round. It's cheap, extremely fresh and clean. The staff are achingly polite and go out of their way. We have a lot to learn in Australia about service in a restaurant. Try this one.
