Description: Located on the top floor of Hanoi La Siesta Diamond hotel, the Gourmet Corner restaurant boast the finest view of Hanoi from the 12th floor, overlooking Hoan Kiem Lake, the Red River and the ever-growing skyline of Hanoi. The Gourmet Corner food menu is the combination of Vietnamese and some Western favorites. Our Vietnamese food options mostly are the dishes from the North. In northern Vietnam, a colder climate limits the production and availability of spices. As a result, the foods are often less spicy than those in other regions, especially the middle part of Vietnam. Black pepper is used in place of chili as the most popular ingredient to produce spicy flavors. Also, coriander is used commonly in most dishes. In general, northern Vietnamese cuisine is not bold in any particular taste - sweet, salty, spicy, bitter, or sour. Most northern Vietnamese foods feature light and balanced flavors that result from subtle combinations of many different flavoring ingredients. “Great western and local food with a view!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2011

The Gourmet Corner is a lovely restaurant located on the top floor of the Hanoi Elegance Diamond Hotel. My Husband and i have eaten there for both Lunch and Dinner. It is a small restaurant, quiet, clean, nice decor, and a great view of Hanoi! The staff are also amazingly friendly and helpful!
If you are vegetarian like myself, you will find some options such as the Sesame Falafel, Rata Tofu or Asparagus soup. All very tasty! My husband (non vegie) enjoyed the Cashew nut Chicken and the Crunchy Cheese Pork.
A great spot to escape the heat and hustle and bustle.
There is also an outdoor area that you can sit and enjoy a cocktail or a cold Hanoi beer and enjoy the view!

“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2011

The restaurant is on top of the Elegance Diamond Hotel (very good hotel at good price) and has a nice view of the city. The restaurant is relatively small but as it seems to be unknown (still quite new) there was enough space. We went twice during our trip and were both times very please with food & service. Especially I can recommend the Trio Lasagne.

“This was a great restaurant to 'come home' to after a busy day.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2011

We loved 'The Gourmet Corner Restaurant' situated at the top of the Hanoi Elegance Diamond. It has great views of the city, a varied and well executed menu (Asian and Western), and the service was always friendly and on top of things. The buffet and made to order breakfasts in the morning were extensive enough to please our group (kids, parent, and grandma). After a long day of touring the city, this is the perfect place to unwind, have a drink on the patio, and settle into a meal.

“Excellent place to eat, stay, wonderful atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2011

It was for my husband and I, our first trip to Asia, we were a little bit apprehensive about what the food would be like. We stayed at the wonderful Hanoi Elegance 5 from February 25 to March 1st. Our intention was to try different restaurants in Hanoi to sample the food. We tried a few restaurants for lunch but we had all our breakfasts and dinners at thie hotel's restaurant on the 12e floor. The breakfast buffet was absolutely delicious, with fresh bread, homemade strawberry jam, fresh-squeezed orange juici, eggs the way you wanted them, bacon, ham, etc... But most of all, it is the atmosphere that made the big difference for us. They treated us as their own, like family. Every night, Le, the restaurant manager, would come and talk to us, ask how our day had gone, he gave us some information on Hanoi, what we could do, etc. My husband and I recommend this restaurant to anybody who wants to visit Hanoi.
