“overpriced, disappointing”
Reviewed April 11, 2011

one of the priciest and most disappointing meals we had in vietnam. basically an overpriced chinese restaurant.
the whole fish served to us could have fed twice the number of people, usd 130! and for 6 people they served two large servings of one order of crab noodles, usd 70! when we questioned why such large portions were served, they said that was normal for 6 people and suggested we takeaway the leftovers!
A very disappointing meal for close to USD300 for 6 people!

“Best meal in Vietnam”
Reviewed November 16, 2010

Food / service:
We came across a review on Luc Thuy while flipping through The Guide magazine, and thought we would treat ourselves to a restaurant meal in Hanoi at the end of our three weeks here in Vietnam. We were overwhelmed by the explosion of flavours and quality of the food, and the fantastic service from the staff. The green papaya salad was unbelievably delicious that we planned to return for dinner after visiting Ha Long Bay. We also had steamed female crab with plain rice, which was equally delicious. Due to misorder (we thought we had ordered the fried crab with chilli and garlic) we ended up with steamed crab, but this way was better as we found that we could really taste the crab. The flavour was delicate and not too powerful. For our second dining experience we decided on green papaya salad (again), crispy skinned duck and fried rice. The rice was different to what we are used to eating, and complemented the duck well instead of overpowering it as a main dish. The duck is a dish we still talk about - days later. So tender and juicy, hardly any fat, and the crispiest crunchy skin! It was divine! Each dining experience includes a refreshing cucumber salad and peanuts (not free - VND$30,000) which is a nice touch.

Value for money:
Yes, this was an expensive option ($50), but for the quality of the food and service it would be at least three times the price in Australia - and I'm not even sure it would taste as good.

There is dining in the main room downstairs which is beautifully decorated, and also upstairs in private rooms (a bit cosier). The bathrooms are also beautifully decorated, but most of all, very clean.

Overall we will definitely dine here again whenever we are back in Hanoi.

“A visually delicious find !”
Reviewed September 11, 2010

What a fantastic find. This place not only looks amazing, but the staff, food and atmosphere was great. This was one of the best meals we enjoyed in Vietnam, and in a country where it is hard to get a bad meal, that is saying something.
The service here was delivered without fault, the presentation and taste of the meals incredible. We didn't realise it was classed as chinese until we walked out.The decor is absolutely stunning and the restaurant location easy to find.It is a little pricey as far as Vietnam restaurant prices go,it was our most expensive meal in 4 weeks. But by the same token well worth every cent ( or should I say dong).A meal here is a must.
