“Good location and great value!”
Reviewed April 12, 2011

This was the second time we stayed some days in Hanoi. Almost randomly picked a place and it turned out to be a very good choice. Breakfast and wifi included in the price. The room is a like a small apartment with a little kitchenette, a pc, and separate bedroom! We liked it so much and added a third day to our booking.
Staff is very friendly and service minded. This is a very good choice if you are on a budget and want to walk around in the old quarter.

Usually I don't write reviews, but I would like to share a few sentences now. Normally I book higher class hotels, but this time I decided to go more on budget and booked this hotel. Well I can say I have never met such a friendly staff in any five star hotel, like here in Rising Dragon 3. They are EXTREMELY friendly and helpful, they made my stay memorable.

I stayed in Deluxe Single room, room was clean and nice. Pls note it only has window to corridor, but after my first night, they offered me a bigger room (for some small extra dollars) which had real window. the hotel has excellent location in heart of old Hanoi, you can access any spots very easily and quickly. I highly recommend this hotel.

We visited Cambodia, and Bali as well as Hanoi, but Hanoi was the highlight of our travel because of staying at The Rising Dragon hotel. The service was impeccable: polite and helpful in every way. The rooms were very comfy and well maintained with kitchens and living area with cable TV. Our room had a separate bedroom and our teenagers had a balcony overlooking the street. Breakfasts were delicious: plenty of fresh fruit and pastries as well as a menu to chose from. We organised two tours were were extremely well priced and went smoothly. One was to Sapa and it was fantastic! Everything was arranged to being dropped off at the train station to our own tour guide trekking with us in the hills.
i mentioned to the manageress that I would like to go to a cooking course, and she suggested i help her and some of the other staff cook for a guest who they wanted to treat as he had been staying with them for 10 days. I helped them cook for 3 hours and learnt such alot along the way. It was FUN! When it came time to eat, they invited my family to join them. It was a very special time for us, and an indication of the service of this place. You aren't a customer but part of the family. I would highly recommend The Rising Dragon as a haven away from the hustle and bustle that travelling in Asia can be!

My wife and I stayed on two occasions in Rising Dragon 3 & 4 ( their latest addition). From the moment we walked through the door we were astonished at the level of hospitality that we received, which makes a really pleasant surprise from the lukewarm reception that we have encountered in many West European hotels, at many times the price.

We were personally greeted by the charming manager and his smiling staff. Nothing was too much trouble with our requests, and we felt very much at home there. Breakfasts are tasty and plentiful, the standard of the hotel is excellent for the price, with even a computer in the room, not just a connection, so no stuffy internet cafes to endure..

The beds were so comfortable compared with the rock hard ones we have endured during our months stay in VietNam. Rooms in Rising Dragon 3 are a little larger than 4, although the 4 rooms are perfectly adequate but 4 is a little newer so is compensatory. The hotel decor is far above what you would expect for the price.

All in all, we would highly recommend these hotels to anyone looking for a stay in the city. They are right bang in the bar/restaurant area of the old city. We discovered one delightful small restaurant named Gecko close to the hotels.

Nothing is ever perfect in life, the 2 wheeler traffic is a bit problematical when you first arrive, but after a couple of days you will be crossing the roads like an old hand.

We have come to have a high regard for the Vietnamese people, and will remember the staff here with great affection

Room Tip: Be pleasant and friendly, even if tired

Location is right in the heart of the city. Easy walking distance to attractions. Free breakfast was a definite highlight, great selection . Staff fantastic, went out of there way to help any request. Rooms were large and comfortable. Free access to internet in our room was a great bonus. Although in a busy little street during the day very quiet at night.

I stayed at the Rising Dragon 3 for 4 nights in late March. We were originally looking to stay only 1 night but extended twice because we were so happy with the service and room. In a new building with nicely appinted rooms, we were staying on the top (9th floor) which gave nice views over the city towards Hoan Kiem lake. Breakfast in the morning is delightful and we enjoyed the complimentary tea and coffee available all day. The location is pleasant, close enough to the big tourist spots of the lake and old quarter, but the immediate surrounds are tiny fashion shops and Lau (Vietnamese bbq) vendors so you know you're in Hanoi as soon as you step outside. We were very appreciative of the laptop that comes with every room and even borrowed the skype headset from the lobby. Best of all though, is the warm and personal service rendered by the dedicated staff. The hotel is small enough so that you get to know all of the staff by the second day. The staff organized train tickets and advised on applying for the Chinese Visa, and were very free with advice on sightseeing throughout Hanoi and surrounds. I thoroughly recommend this place for any length of stay in Hanoi and will definitely do so to friends and family.

Beautiful place! Again, a lot of attention to detail.
Situated in the old Hanoi.
Staff excellent, attentive to all your needs. The staff helped us to send with the train two scooters that we had rented at HCM.
I highly recommend if you want to visit Hanoi.
