A family travelling on a budget and this was a great experience.

The young people assigned to us were kind, respectful, knowledgeable and flexible.

Their English was very good but their company even better. They were able to provide a window into Vietnamese history and culture that is usually inaccessible to the casual tourist.

A great way to see and/or introduction to Hanoi.

I'd use their services again - Thank-you Hanoi Kids.

Hanoikids do an absolutely superb job. It's a no-brainer. Free tour around Hanoi, with interesting Vietnamese students who give you a chance to understand Vietnamese culture and the city. I had two different students during my stay, and they both did a superb job of showing me the highlights and giving me an insight into their lives. They make sure you master the art of crossing the roads, and really strive to give you what you want. I really rate them as an essential if you are visiting Hanoi.

We could not get a tour booking online and mentioned this to the hotel we were staying in (Hanoi Elegance) and they were able to arrange a half day tour for us because they supported the Hanoi Kids program. We were met by 2 university students at 9 in the morning And they were the extremely friendly polite and knowledgeable. They took us to the temple of literature first explaining to us in detail and then we walked around the old quarter. We visited a quaint little coffee shop with an excellent view of the lake which we would never have discovered if not for these kids. One of them also recommended an egg coffee which surprisingly was quite good. Since we were vegetarians they also took us to a nice place where we bought them lunch. We ended the program after lunch at around 1 p.m. Great program and couple of great kids who represented their wonderful country in an even better way. By the way there is no fee to use their service and it just gives these kids an opportunity to converse in English. In case you use them, please don't forget to make a donation to this excellent program.

The great reviews of this service on Tripadvisor and many travel blogs convinced us to book two half days with Hanoi Kids. We were not disappointed. Our first afternoon in the city was spent with a wonderful young lady and gentleman, Thuong and Ton, walking the Old Quarter streets and lanes. We didn't want to spend this time visiting the usual tourist sites, but getting a feel for life in Hanoi. Along the way they helped me acquire an inexpensive cell phone for our extended travels in Asia - I doubt it would have been accomplished without them.

The second day we booked a morning and this time ventured a little further afield, often by taxi. We again had male and female perspectives from Frank (Tung) and Hien. Calling for a reliable taxi to meet us was invaluable. Their guided tour of the Ethnology Museum was most interesting. Both times the Kids agreed to take us to local eating places and helped navigate the selection and etiquette.

We were very impressed not only with their wide-ranging knowledge, but their fun-loving personalities and good humor. This is a terrific service and we recommend it to anyone visiting this fascinating city for the first time. They informed us of other club chapters in Saigon and Hoi An, and we will definitely be looking them up later in our trip.
