We stayed in Venus hotel towards the end of a 2-weeks trip all around Vietnam. Despite not favoring city life, we had to stop in Hanoi to be able to access Sapa and Halong Bay. The rooms did not reflect the pictures on the web at all, no view, wi-fi never working, gloomy rooms. We discovered on the last day that other guests could easily see us in our room from the stairs, as the curtains were not thick enough. The people at the hotel were courteous and when they proposed to help us with our selection of tours for Sapa and Halong Bay, we were so tired that we fell in their trap and didn't realise that they were charging us twice the regular price. When we got on the Halong Bay tour, the other guests on the "supposed-to-be-luxurious" boat told us they had paid only $75 whereas we had been charged $125. We had been promised premium service as we needed to rest, but received the same treatment as everybody, and even sub-standard service as they mistook us for muslims and we were very rudely removed from a table at dinner time because of that. That was humiliating. Back to the hotel, we complained and asked for a refund, but the guy there delayed things until it was time for us to leave. He promised to email us the progress of the complaint handling, but when I emailed him from home, he never replied despite reminders.
