“VNese staff chatting LOUDLY - not relaxing at all!!”
Reviewed February 15, 2013

We came to this little cafe to be away from noise of the Hanoi street and have a bit of break away from hustle and bustle of the city.

The place looked nice both from outside and inside (interior). Looking good. We just ordered black coffee (25K) and cappuccino (40K), which were fine.

HOWEVER, the biggest problem here was the staff (three of them at the time) who kept chatting really LOUDLY with each other while we were there. They talk loud as if we were not there - absolutely no attention and care to the customers.

They should know people come to the place to have a break and relax, not to listen to loud VNese chats like on the street.

“Very Average”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

Called in here for a bite to eat. They had run out of scotch, the sandwiches we ordered were cold as they sat on the bench for 10 minutes while the staff chatted, the coffee was weak & luke warm. Could be a great little place if they just got their act together.
Probably wouldn't go here again.

“Good food, nice cozy atmosphere”
Reviewed January 6, 2013

We visited this restaurant twice and were thoroughly impressed both times. Food was delicious, especially the spaghetti carbonara and bolognese, and the atmosphere was warm and cozy - a nice reprieve from the cold overcast January days in Hanoi.

“Arrogant, dreadful food and appalling service”
Reviewed January 5, 2013

It looked so inviting. After a week living with the hill tribes the idea of some well cooked french food was so appealing.

We were given a table. Then the trouble began. It was alike a comedy sketch. "Ill have the Toulouse sausage...". "we're out of that". "I'll have the Charcuterie plate "we're out of that". I'll have the cheese..." we're out of that.... I mean what sort of French restaurant runs out of cheese.

We settled on Andouilette. I love Andouilette. It was a brave choice, but this was a french restaurant and the one place that knows how to do andouilette is the French , right? Wrong.

Then we were asked to move to the Bar as the Manager wanted the table for friends of his who had "pre-booked". It soon became evident that this was no such thing, and as we struggled to sit and chat at the bar, they continued to be rude, noisy and then spent most of their time outside on the pavement drinking with the manager/owner. We could have had the table and been out of there.

Then we were told the Beer had run out. All of this was at 7pm in the evening - not like they had had a run on covers for the evening.

Then the Andouilette arrived. It was disgusting. Cold, rubbery and terrible presentation. It was served with mashed potato that was lumpy. The manager was called and he just did that arrogant Gallic shrug and said " it's Andouilette" as if that solved the problem and third world debt all in one simple explanation. No apology, no explanation and clearly no discussion

As we left, we had to push past the Manager and his friends who were blocking the way and didn't even a) move or b) ask us if we had enjoyed our meal. Smart move on the latter point because I might have given him both barrels.

I don't think this is your place if you want something fancy and glamourous...This is the place for some one who wants to enjoy the warmth and coziness of winter days =)
