“Great little hotel on the edge of the backpacker area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2013 via mobile

I stayed for two nights at this hotel. I found the staff very welcoming and the rooms clean, large and with good hot water at all times.it is on a quiet street in the evening so there was not much noise from the street. It is about a ten minute walk to where most backpackers go in the evening to bars and restaurants but you get to meet other travellers at breakfast time as you usually share tables. The breakfast is included in the price.

We had a top experience with Moon and her staff. Beds were comfy, rooms spacious, breakfast great and all the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. We had to extend our stay there for an extra week as I became ill but they looked after us so well and brought up chicken soup without even asking. I would go back to stay with them in a heartbeat, thank you all :)

I booked for this hotel but when I got there it was full. So, Ms Moon transfered me to her sister's hotel that was Hanoi Little Diamond. The room I got was good the hotel was good and the staff were friendly, location was even better as Hanoi Little Diamond was closer to the lake. So no complain about the transfer.
I booked a tour to Halong Bay through Blue Sky hotel. It was the fantasea tour. On the booklet it was written that the price was USD 109, but they gave me discount so I only paid USD 105. But then, I met other travellers who booked the fantasea tour through agents they told me they only paid USD 85. Well, the same service but mine is USD 20 more expensive, I found it rather annoying.

We arrived after 16 hours in a bus from Hue in Hanoi. We had booked a day in advance the room for two nights and wrote a quick email to inform them about our early arrival. Unfortunately we did not receive any reply, but we had not much choice than to take our chance the morning and go to the hotel. The receptionist, Moon, was very friendly and assisted us with any request, offered coffee and had a room for us available that we could sleep for a few hours. It was on the 5th floor, so we had to carry all the luggage upstairs. In that moment you really don't care, as you just want to sleep. In the afternoon we asked for a room on a lower level and she was happy to move us the next day. The room on the 5th floor was not very spacious and loud as the window can not close 100%. The room on the 3rd floor was much better, way larger and not on the side of the street.
The girls at reception are very helpful and explain you where to find restaurants, markets, boat trips to Halong Bay... even with special wishes like tailors they are happy to assist where they can. Moon speaks very well english and is the diamond of the hotel. She gives recommendations, explains, arranges tickets to Halong Bay and stores the luggage. We went for three days to the Halong Bay on a boat recommended by the hotel and we were very satisfied. Great value for money. We left the luggage in the hotel and returned for another two nights before leaving Vietnam.
The breakfast is not very elaborate as you get a baguette with jam or cheese or an egg, coffee or tea and some melons. It is certainly enough to start the day, but for people with a lot of appetite you will have to look afterwards for more food.
In general the location is great, as you can walk anywhere, even though the traffic is crazy in Hanoi. The hotel is clean, organized and well prized. I would stay there any time again when I visit Hanoi.

Room Tip: try to sleep on the side away from the street.

The hotel is great...especially for the small price. If you're looking for a clean and comfortable hotel, this is a great option for a good price.

Beyond that, we were amazed at the staff here. Some highlights:

1. Before we even got out of the cab, they were in the road getting our bags and welcoming us. Then they made us sit and have coffee and fruit (free) and relax while they took our luggage to the room.

2. They have great breakfast included with the room and always want you to sit and have coffee/tea/fruit while in the lobby.

3. They staff are very knowledgable about places to eat and visit - offered to give us new places every time we went out.

Moon is incredible and makes you feel so welcomed. She helped my brother and I plan out and book the next 2 weeks of our trip through Vietnam, booked our Sapa tour and Halong Bay tour and buses between each and to the next cities. She was willing to use the company we asked for instead of trying to make commission like many hotels. We only stayed for 2 nights but for the whole week we used the hotel as a base between excursions and she let us shower, gave us coffee, and had clean laundry waiting for us each time we got back. When we had to change buses to get to the next city, the bus company dumped us on the side of the road with no help of finding what bus we were supposed to be on. We just called moon and she worked it out for us even though we had already left.

Moon, thanks so much. You have incredible hospitality and we will certainly be back next time we're in Hanoi.

We stayed here 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The staff was super helpful and really understanding considering that one or us got really sick and we needed to keep the room for an extra night. They booked us train ticket, cancelled them, and booked them back, everything at a lower cost then the railway website. Probably the friendliest Hotel staff in Hanoi.

I stayed here a few months ago when I was in Hanoi.

The woman running the place, moon, was amazing and she couldn't have made us feel more welcome.

The room was clean and comfortable. It was 15 dollars a night and that included a/c, hot water, breakfast and tea, coffee and fruit throught the day.

I also booked my sapa tour with them and everything was great.

Thanks moon!!
