We had a lovely meal at Madame Hien's during our stay in Hanoi. The restaurant is in a colonial style house which makes a nice setting. The waitress was very attentive & helpful & food was good. We shared a soup to start (good idea in chilly weather) & some great noodles, caramelised pork & broccoli in oyster sauce (lots of good vegetable dishes on menu). Also recommend the banana cake for dessert. A great place to eat in Hanoi.

We went on a saturday night for dinner and altho our hotel wasn' t able to make a reservation by phone, we were accepted as walk-ins. The food was delicious, we had waterbuffalo steak and three way duck, both dishes perfectly cooked and presented. The chocolate cake dessert is not a must, but try their homemade icecream! Great authentic vietnamese dinner. A bit more pricy, but the atmosphere pays off!

Super place. Again, it is in an old mansion with tasteful interior designs and good food. Chef and owner is an award winning chef. Prices are on the high side but it is worth the price. Servers here are able to communicate in English.

Their food is a combination of authentic Vietnamese food as well as fusion food.

Restaurant is located in a small street, away from the hustle and bustle of traffic and people

Madame Hien is an excellent restaurant in an old villa with surrounding courtyard tables a short walk from the action of Hoan Kiem Lake. We recently had dinner on a Saturday night, all the outdoor tables were booked but had an excellent meal in a large upstairs room in the villa. Service was excellent, we ordered from the al la carte menu and all the dishes were great. I would recommend during a visit to Hanoi.

After wandering around the old quarter - but managing to resist eating "street food" we ate here one evening. A bit hard to find, but worth the effort. We had the "36 Street Food, without the Street" fixed menu. So tasted much of the local street food, but with the reassurance that it was cooked in a proper restaurant ......
