Owner description: "Visiting Vietnam without listening to a rhythm of ca tru traditional music means that you've not discovered the real spirit of Vietnam yet." "Free yourself and get immersed in ca tru while enjoying performance by Thang Long Ca Tru Theatre. It is a voluntary, non-profit group of ca tru musicians founded in 2006. Long-time history, unique instruments, impressive music tones and meaningful song lyrics made ca tru recognized by UNESCO as the World Intangible Cutural Heritage." "This is a concert for about 70 persons held in an old temple in the old quarter of Hanoi. They are good about explaining the instruments and the history of the music. They even let you come try out the instruments. The hot tea and little cake is a nice touch at intermission" "The singers had such dear, expressive faces and sang with such intensity. The instruments were unique and had a real otherworldly quality to them and the presentation and overall performance were of a very high quality. I felt delighted, entertained and educated. Well worth going to see."-Visited wrote The show is on every Thursday and Saturday night at 8pm at 28 Hang Buom (Quan De Temple).

“This is NOT the WATER PUPPET theater”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

This is a very small concert for about 25 persons held in an ancient house in the old quarter of Hanoi. It is a World Heritage Intangible experience that is striving to keep this ancient musical performance from dying. It is about an hour show. They are quite good about explaining the instruments and the history of the music. They even let you come try out the instruments. The hot tea and little cake is a nice touch at intermission.

“What a gas!”
Reviewed January 22, 2013

This show is $5 for the best seats and is quite a gas. OK, the production values aren't exactly modern Hollywood, but the story is cute, the audience is all tourist from all over the world, and the puppets are mostly adorable. The dragon and phoenix at the start are wonderful, beautiful, exuberant! Unless you are a curmudgeon, you'll be amused and entertained. (OK, it's a lot touristy and probably more than a little schmaltzy. What do you expect for three or five bucks!)

“Wow - traditional theatre at its best!”
Reviewed January 17, 2013

I know this is not most peoples cup of tea but I love traditional theatre and this one of the best. Afterwards you can come up on stage and talk with the performers and try your hand at the traditional instruments - where does that happen in the Western world?
The show is short and the kids will love trying the instruments just as I did and I certainly am not a kid (except at heart).

I hope I have got the right place. We found the show cute and some of the movements are intriguing. The traditional music is very good.
