“Great Service for a Hostel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2013

RDV Hotel is well placed in the Old Quarter as has the most friendly and resourceful staff I met during my 1-month trip in SE Asia. Even when I wasn't booked, they helped me with some logistics. Definitively a good service considering Vietnam´s scams. Rooms are above average for price range and include breakfast.

The room was very clean, the hotel is also well-located in the old quartier. The young staff is really prepared to treat you well, and they also sell tours and train/bus tickets very efficiently. Moreover, the staff gives good information about local food restaurants and activities.

Managed to get a good deal for the room, quite cheap indeed and includes and very decent breakfast (the milkshakes are the most generous size I've seen in two weeks). Highlight of the room was a great shower! Comfortable room and lovely staff. :)

We stayed here for 1 night, after reading about the hotel in the Lonely Planet guide to Vietnam and seeing good reviews online. Our experience was really disappointing. We'd pre-booked as we were arriving into Hanoi really late so wanted to have airport pick-up etc which was fine. We were given a double bedroom, which smelled of sewage. The smell was coming from the shower but had spread through the whole room. The furniture is old and chipped and it just doesn't feel like it's worth the money at all. We asked to change rooms as I couldn't stand the smell and were given a twin room as they had no other doubles left. The staff were friendly, apologetic about the smell and reduced the rate for us which was nice. They were also friendly and helpful on reception when we had questions. The breakfast was OK. However, that doesn't take away from the low quality of the room itself. We then stayed elsewhere in the same area of Hanoi, for the same price, and it was a completely different (much more comfortable and positive) experience. The hotel has to maintain its quality in order to continue being popular and well reviewed rather than resting on previous laurels.

The staff at this hotel makes the experience! They are all super friendly and helpful, great with marking the maps for points of interest, and communicate well in English (free Vietnamese lessons as well!). The location is good- moto drivers know Hang Dieu. The rooms are comfortable, a step up from normal budget accommodation in Vietnamese cities (good quality shampoo, toothbrush, plenty of toilet paper... good lighting, good size, modern A/C). Even helped me out with tea and some TLC when I came down sick one day. They care!

We've stayed 4 nights at Rendezvous and it was very good. Rooms are spacious, with TV, comfy bed, good bathroom with great shower and simple amenities and hairdryer, which was great. The rooms with balcony have some light and can be a bit noisy (hanoi is noisy) but less than I thought. The rooms on the back are quiet but don't have windows (they have, but it faces a wall). So, these rooms are a little bit dark.
Internet was working, they also have computers and printer for common use. Restaurant was ok, breakfast was good, we had diner one night and the food was ok. One thing I loved about them is that they offered a map and lot of tips about Hanoi, like where to eat the best street food. The place is very well located!
The staff is very helpful, most of them speak good english and they arranged cabs and train tickets or us and it was well priced and worked very well. I highly recommend this place if you're travelling on a budget.

Room Tip: Front rooms have terrace, if natural light is important for you.

Excellent place to stay. They put down an extra mattress so 4 of us could take the 3 person room (for an extra $5). The room was big and clean, the only complaint being the slightly odd smell coming from the bathroom, think it was coming from the plumbing. The shower was great though. The breakfast included in the price was great, and on the Thursday they had their 'free springrolls and beer' evening. We booked our 2 day trip to Halong Bay through them and it was fantastic, and the staff were always willing to try and help if you had a question for them.

Room Tip: The higher rooms are further away from the noisy street.
