“Well done staff of this hotel!”
Reviewed October 10, 2010

It's all about the staff at this place! Dong at the reception is great and the GM (american young man) is a fantastic help. The rooms are nice and clean and spacious. The bathroom is nice and has a good shower with endless hot water! The scedule for the cleaners could be a bit better as sometimes they came early morning and other times only late afternoon. Breakfast is really good but do try to get there on time asthe other guests agree that the breakfast is really good ;)
For Vietnam it's not a cheap hotel (rooms going for around $55) but for Hanoi it's the best option for value as everywhere is overpriced and you will get nothing for your money. Splurge in Hanoi and stay at the Medallion.

Yet again I take notice of Trip Advisor reviews and end up in a great hotel. It was a bad staff as the hotel did not receive details of my booking and airport transfer from their website and therefore I had no airport pick-up so I got a taxi to the hotel to find I wasn't booked in and they did not have the type of room I wanted. The asst manager spoke to me and assured me it would be sorted out, which it was, I was given a great room at a discounted rate as the hotel said it was their mistake that the booking wasn't confirmed. The room had TV, wi-fi and a great, big shower. I booked a city tour via the hotel and this was done with one of the reception staff who was on his day off , Hau. He took me for a full days tour on the back of his motorbike all around Hanoi. He paid all entry fees and bought lunch for the princely sum of $15!! His English is not brilliant but he tries hard to explain things at each venue. I felt obliged to give him a tip as I thought this was great value for money. I also arranged to go to Halong Bay via the hotel and this was an excellent 2 days. There was food galore on board and the ships bar was fully stocked and reasonably priced unlike some others I have heard about. The staff at this hotel are very friendly and if they cannot speak good English they will find someone who can if the Anglo/Viet communications break down. This is a fantastic reasonably priced hotel in a perfect location in the old quarter of Hanoi so walking around is not a problem.

We stayed for one night at the hotel at the end of a fantastic trip to Vietnam, we also made a trip to halongbay with the agency of the hotel. Rooms are excellent, but we love this hotel because of the staff, young people with a lot of energy and professionalism it was a pleasure to talk with them and to share experiences, you are more than just a guest in the hotel. We talked with the young staff and learned a lot about the Vietnamese life. The stay was just wonderfull.

A small, but clean hotel in a great spot almost in the middle of the Old Quarter. We explored most of it by foot, so was very convenient stepping out of the hotel and being right in the middle of the madness :) Good service and good breakfast as well. Our own room was a bit dated, but our friends stayed at a newer room and it was better, so maybe ask for a newer room (I think they're a bit more expensive) when you book.

The Medallion Hanoi surprised me for all the right reasons. Wife booked a budget hotel and we received excellent value for money. Rooms clean and tidy, Breakfasts that were varied and catered for both the Asian and Western palate. Free internet and extremely helpful and friendly staff made the stay a truely enjoyable one. Location was ideal for both local food by the side of the road and/or restaurants nearby. Go for the higher floors if you need just that little bit more quiet from the hustle and bustle of the street below. Have already recommended the hotel to friends and informed the booking agent of this little jewel in a Country we will definitely be returning to.

The Medallion is good value for moneyand worth spending a bit more for one of the bigger rooms. We stayed in the medallion suite. Free wifi and genorous selection for breakfast. Helpful staff as noted in other reviews and good location close to many great restaurants. The staff will help you with taxis, shopping, booking tours (eg perfume pagoda) and where to eat. We arrived late on a Friday night and didnt have the energy to go out for dinner. The room service was ok and very quick but there are so many great places to eat within the surrounding area.

Would definetly stay here again if coming to Hanoi.

I stayed here for three weeks while working in Hanoi. The location is in the heart of the old quarter, near many decent bars and restaurants, and yet the hotel itself is very quiet. I wasn't woken once by the noise of construction or anything else. The room was clean and well furnished. The breakfast was grand and the staff very accommodating and friendly. The only recommendation I would make is that they get 'do not disturb' signs, as house keeping had a habit of arriving at inopportune moments. An issue easily solved by a sign for the door.
