What a fantastic hotel and helpful staff. I'd left a small bag in a tour bus and they went out of their way to get it back for me. Their breakfast buffet is also outstanding and the best we'd had on our 22 day trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. The rooms are beautiful and on arrival we had complimentary fresh fruit, water and coffee/tea in our rooms. Loved it there!!

It was overall excellent service from their staffs. Friendly and super helpful. love the tea served to us upon arriving. We were originally staying at a classic room facing the old quarters, but the first night proved it too noisy. At 730am their vietnamese anthem was playing on loud hailers and we could sleep any further. In the middle of the night the backpackers hostel next to it was partying through the night and that kept us up too.

We asked to be switched to another room and the staff kindly did so for us. But to our dismay, there were two rooms undergoing renovations on the same level and directly upstairs. Every morning at 830am the housekeepers talks so loudly as if the whole hotel is empty. And not to mention vietnam's hotel is small such that them talking at 7th floor corridor can be heard so clearly on the 6th floor inside the rooms. And we get woken up even though we wanted to rest and sleep in at 830am every morning and the noise continue till 930am. Then the housekeepers come around knocking on your door for housekeeping. There goes your rest!! We tolerated that for four days. We didnt complain because we thought the renovations will be completed in a day or two. And the housekeepers will stop making so much noise by then. But up till the last day of our stay the noise continues.

Other then that, breakfast was great. Staffs were having superb service extended to us. We needed a taxi they would get us one and even tell us which taxi group not to take as they are not good etc. provided us with maps and helped know how we can get atound Hanoi City. Great job!! the rooms are great. Dark wooden floors in the room and toilets for classic rooms, white wood furnitures in deluxe room and of course they are bigger too. overall rooms are clean and neat. Very good feel.

It is a hotel worth putting up at.

Travelled with 2 adults and 2 teenage children. Rooms were generally reflective of the pictures on-line and were clean, functional and with a good shower. Our rooms were at the rear of the Hotel off the main street which meant that they were not overly noisy.

Breakfast spread was adequate with something for everyone, including fussy kids. Staff have limited English skills but enough to make do for the simple requirements.

In picking a hotel in Hanoi you need make a really serious choice about staying in the Old Quarter. It is seriously busy and is an assault on the senses. If you don't like small hotels, noise, constantly dodging traffic, a few smells and cramped streets then book something in the French Quarter. It took us a day or so to settle into to the rhythm of the streets around the hotel but then grew to love it. The location is a short walk to the lake and the attractions and restaurants of the Old Quarter. This hotel is a good choice if you don't expect 5 star and want to immerse yourself in frantic activity of the Old Quarter.

Booked a day tour to Halong Bay from the hotel tour desk. It was no fuss and the tour was of a good standard.

Due to a typhoon our travel plans had changed and we unexpectedly ended up in Hanoi. We booked this hotel thru the travel information desk at the airport. Not knowing what to expect, we were pleasantly surprised. The location of this hotel is amazing, right in the thick of the Old Quarter. The rooms, were spacious, clean and comfortable and very quiet. The reception staff were very pleasant and welcoming upon our arrival. The lovely young man at the door was smiling all the time and so eager to please. The only draw back was that it didn't have a pool but wasn't an issue during our stay due to rain and cooler weather.

The Hanoi Medallion Hotel is a very good hotel for all type of travellers. Its situation in the old Hanoi introduce you directly in the deep Vietnam.
Employees are all nice and helpful. Rooms are comfortables and breakfast offers a lt of choice.
Great deal!!

Room Tip: ask for a room not on the street, the city is very noisy.

I stayed at the hotel for a week. The hotel is generally fine and is centrally located. The breakfast buffet is good with plenty of food *european & Vietnamese". The hot croissant was my favourite as it's made fresh from the hotel. There is no business centre at the hotel but you can use the computers on the 2nd floor and collect your prints from the reception's printer. The only downside was with the running machine in the gymnasium which was out of order during my stay and I don't think this was on the priority list for repairs.
