“Excellent stay”
Reviewed January 8, 2014

We stayed for 1 night on 2nd jan. Excellent clean hotel close to old quarters it's 10 minutes walk.
Rooms very clean, with excellent decor. Rooms bit small. Highly recommend hotel. There are few good restaurants in the nearby vicinity.

Room Tip: We got deluxe room good as a family room

This hotel is very classy and a great place to stay especially if this is your first experience in Hanoi as life on the street can be a little overwhelming at first. It looks as if the hotel has been recently refurbished and they have spent a lot on the interior decorations. Our room on the fifth floor was fairly small but in the middle of the hotel and oh so quiet. Despite having no window to the outside world it was quite light as it overlooked an internal skylight. Plentiful buffet breakfast and great location. It is just on the edge of the old quarter. Quite expensive but value for money.

Room Tip: A room in the middle of the hotel .

Our 2 families of 9 adults moved here after a disappointing stay down the street at a different property that was rated higher than a Silk Path on TripAdvisor. This hotel is clean, has nice beds and well appointed bathrooms and was a great find for the price. Good and friendly service too. Nice breakfast but not dazzling. Super location close to many attractions by taxi, walking or bicycle. Rooms that face the street are noisy but not unacceptable.

Room Tip: Rooms in the rear of the hotel will be more quiet.

If you are looking for a good hotel located close to the Old Quarter then the Silk Path is a good pick. The rooms are well appointed and maintained, if a little on the small size, service is also good. Breakfast was also good, featuring both local and Western dishes. We did not eat at the Hotel for dinner but with so many restaurants in close proximity I would recommend eating out. The gym is well equipped albeit a little small. Don't bother with the Sauna though as it doesn't appear to heat above 40C!

Room Tip: Don't expect a view because the layout of Hanoi in the Old Quarter doesn't allow for this. I...

The hotel is nice and is a good option to visit the old hanoi. Rooms are not so big but they are very clean and nice. Breakfast is good. The restaurant is also provided with two restaurants which have good choice and quality of international and vietnamise food. Recommended!

We only had three days in Hanoi as part of a trip down the east coast of Vietnam. We arrived early hours of the morning and were greeted well and a cake arrived at our room shortly afterwards with it being a special occasion... Nice touch...

The room was large enough, clean and had some complimentary fruit and water.

The hotel arranged our trip to halong bay the next day we left our luggage.

On return we had a nicer room with a little more of a view as we had paid extra, mainly for the breakfast. The downside was even on the 7th floor you get a little road noise, but you will get that anywhere in Hanoi. After a meal and a few drinks and when the roads quiet down it was no problem to sleep.

We chose the old quarter as on or return we had less than 24hrs to see all the main sites, which we did with ease with the help of a map and directions from the porter. The only one he got wrong was the location of the downed b52 bomber which was a shame as I had wanted I see it. But plenty of others seem to have struggled.

This is a great little oasis after a day sight seeing in Hanoi. We found it difficult to find restaurants as my wife didn't feel that safe venturing around by foot at night so just found one on tripadvisor and took a cab.

I would definitely recommend this hotel for a short stay in Hanoi. I think a couple of days in Hanoi is enough for most and would recommend the trip to halong bay.

The Christmas songs playing in the dining room in December drove me nuts!! Why play this type music in Asia? Vietnam is not a Christian country and I, and I'm sure lots of other travellers, go to Asia to have an Asian experience. Not take songs about white Christmas and Santa in the snow with me. It was like sitting in a supermarket at home.

Apart from the music the Silk Path is newly renovated and very slick. The rooms are small but comfortable. The bathroom plumbing is complicated. I need glasses so had to wear them to use the taps. All room fittings are very state of the art.

Their bistro is open until 2200 which is great because we got in very late and breakfast starts early. You want it, you can have it - just ask. The staff are kind and obliging and will go out of their way to help. It reminded me of a really good hotel for travelling salespeople in days gone by - a hotel you could always rely on.

Room Tip: It's a convenient place to stay once you learn to cross the roads in Hanoi.

Thank you for your comments! We were glad to see that you had a wonderful stay with us at Silk Path Hotel on your recent trip to Hanoi. I do apologize for the music, however many of the Vietnamese do celebrate Christmas even though it is not predominately a Christian nation.

Thanks again for your comments. We look forward to welcoming you back to Silk Path Hotel on your next trip to Hanoi.
