I found staff at this hotel not particularly friendly or helpful and the room was quite small. Our only window looked onto a small lightwell so it was rather like sleeping in a matchbox. The hotel is well situatedin the busy tourist area and they make a mean cocktail.

Room Tip: Perhaps you should ask to see your room before accepting it.

very clean hotel with good service in restaurant. The best part of this hotel is the entrance. I stayed in hotel in 2010 but had dinner there in July 2012. Rooms at that time 2010 very well appointed and comfortable but small by western standards. Food quality is average but considering the price paid you can eat same quality elsewhere in Hanoi for half price! - Silk Path restaurant is poor value with respect to pricing. In addition I had dinner last month in the restaurant with Vietnamese friends and the staff treated them dismissively...very sad which put me off from every returning! For the visitor there are now many better well appointed boutique hotels in the old quarter which have excellent rooms and food at much lower price. Not good value here..look elsewhere!

Room Tip: Book in advance BUT LOOK AT OTHER options for VALUE. higher the better

Hanoi is a very busy city and the Silk Path Hotel lobby can also be a busy place. But once inside your room it's quiet and peaceful and getting a good nights rest is not a problem. Breakfast is ample and the service was ok. The only problem we had with the room was that there was mould on the wall which was about a metre from the edge of the bed. In general the hotel was ok for the price.

My husband and I just stayed one night during a brief visit to Hanoi but were very happy with the service and the quality of accommodation. The room was compact but clean and well stocked, as well as beautifully designed - as was the rest of the hotel! There was no view but there's no traffic noise at night so it balances out nicely!

All of the staff we encountered were friendly and attentive and were a credit to the hotel. We decided to stay in for a meal that night as we'd had a full-on day and were not disappointed. Not only was there a decent wine list but a very good combination of western and asian food to cater for every taste. Our meals were delicious, we decided to try some Hanoian specialities and they were cooked and presented beautifully. The breakfast buffet had a good selection of hot and cold food, Western and Asian.

I can't comment particularly on the location as we didn't really venture out and left early in the morning but I would almost definitely make a return visit to find out if I am in Hanoi again in the future.

Great hotel in the frenetic Old Quarter. Large executive floor at front of hotel on 4th floor but only low level of noise from busy street. Excellent free wi-fi in room. First time I've ever been asked to leave a room by house-keeping so they could clean the room which was inconvenient. Minimal hot water with poor pressure in shower. Drain blocked so bathroom flooded during shower. Hand held shower handle leaked and sprayed cold water everywhere. Comfortable king bed and pillows. Good breakfast ( Asian hotels always have trouble cooking and presented sausages and bacon). Over the top marble and glass decor I foyer and bars, but room had understated sophisticated decor. Great tariff, helpful staff ( especially door attendants and tour desk ). Would definitely stay again despite the annoying minor problems in room.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for the executive rooms - spacious and comfortable.
