After 10 days of Vietnamese food, Angelina delivers us the best Pizza and Anti Pasto meal. Nice set up and great staff service. It's very popular and crowded.

This restaurant is located in the Sofitel. As we are non smokers and the downstairs bar area is smoking, they escorted us upstairs to a strange narrow balcony area where we were the only guests. This balcony is connected at one end to the kitchen, and the waiters marched in and out from the kitchen every minute, quite unrelaxing. Food took a while to come out and it was quite good, as was the bread, delicious. It's the same food as provided by room service in the hotel, and as the dining experience was unpleasant but the food good, I say, stay in your pjs and order in.

Sometimes when I'm visiting a developing Asian city, I need a break from the smog, pollution, and constant 'buy, buy, buy' beggings of local businesses and people. Angelina's bar provided that clean, hotel bar environment where we enjoyed couple refreshing drinks while chatting with the local bartender, whose English was pretty darn good, using clean toilets, and finding a little break from hectic Hanoi. Sometimes I just need that, especially after walking around Hanoi for a day. Of course, because it's a hotel bar, the prices are appropriately skyward. We did notice cigar smoke, from other patrons, wafting towards our perch on the bar, but cigar/cigarette smoke is ubiquitous in SE Asia. It's like the US in the 50's/60's/70's; everybody smokes, especially young people and they don't quite understand that to have a non-smoking table in the middle of a smoking restaurant makes no sense. If you're in the area of the hotel and need a refreshment and a break, Angelina's or even the hotel's other bars, Club and Bamboo Bar are a nice break. However, I would not go out of my way to come to this bar. I think there are other bars in Hanoi that offer mixed cocktails, wines, etc. But sometimes the comfort of a western hotel bar satisfies the thirst for a break. Because we did not order food, I can not comment on the food. However, the complimentary nuts/olives and other hors d'oeuvres they gave us at the bar were tasty and hard to stop eating. Also, the staff were very attentive, but we were there in the afternoon, between their lunch and dinner shift so they did not have many other patrons to take care of but us.

It was almost 10 at night and we ran out of options to have dinner so we ended up at Angelinas. After 2 weeks traveling in Asia, our kids loved the pizza. The pasta was fine as well.

What I remember the most of the restaurant was not the food but the atmosphere. It is an extremely expensive restaurant (for the country's standards) and I got the impression that it was packed with locals. Loud wetern music played by a DJ. It is a trendy place in Hanoi. The times are changing in Vietnam, that is a fact.

Don't bother to ask for a non smoking table... They were smoking cigars and the whole placed smelled like that.

We booked Angelina's private room for dinner for 9 persons and found the food average, if not below average. Service was poor as well - they kept walking in and out of the room and leaving the door wide open or ajar - letting in the noise and sounds of an event that was taking place in the hotel bar.
Also, staff waiting on us forgot our orders or served orders to the wrong persons.
All in, the dining experience was a jarring contrast to the high standards that one has come to expect of Sofitel Metropole's branding.
Angelina's look out of place in the Metropole.
