Owner description: This place was built between 1805 and 1812 under King Gia Long and is over 2 centuries old. It resembles an old stone fortress and has steps leading to the top where one can get a good view of the city. There are old cannon sitting at the base of the place at grand level.

“Just a flag”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

We saw it when we were walking through the mausoleum. It's near the Army museum and next to the Highlands coffee (expensive). Just a huge Vietnamese flag (American style). Not sure if it is a touristic attraction.

“Great view of what used to be ancient part of Ha Noi”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

One of few landmarks of old Ha Noi that was not destroyed by the French colonialists. Symbolizes Ha Noi. You can climb to the top and get a good view of Ba Dinh square, the Mausoleum.... Entrance is in the Army Museum. You can also enjoy a nice cup of coffee or smoothies, jelly drinks at the Highlands at its base

“Take a picture and move on.”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

This is a flag on a building. Nothing else to really see here. This place is quite far out of the way. So, unless you are a flagpole fanatic, I might avoid the long walk to get here. On the plus side, Lenin's park is across the street, so you can pay him a visit as well.

“Its a flag tower, nothing more, nothing less.”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

Ok, For me, it was not worth the walk to visit the flag tower.
It is what its name says it to be, A Flag Tower - I am not sure what i was expecting to see when i got to the flag tower, but it was something more than just a flag tower.
Oh there is a cafe at the bottom - that isnt anything special either !

“Not much to see here”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

If you have trudged your way all over Hanoi and you finally get to see the Hanoi Flag Tower you are impressed by the height and the purpose of the tower, but it seemes overshadowed by the Lenin monument on the opposite side of the road, which in itself seems totally out of context.
