Perfect room, perfect location, perfect breakfast, perfect recommendations, the best staff... Our room, the suite, was spacious, spotless and with a very comfortable bed.
The location is superb, just in the middle of the old quarter and very convenient to explore the city. We loved it there!

As to the staff, everybody amazingly friendly with a great working atmosphere. Always smiling and willing to help you. Since we love Vietnamese food, they recommended different places and they all were outstanding, especially Madame Hien!.

Many thanks Tony (the Manager of the Hotel) for all your kindness and friendship when leaving all our stuff at the hotel to go to Halong Bay and up to Sapa. We were allowed to leave our cases there without any charge and, to our surprise, when coming back from Sapa on the train (at about 5.00 am) , we could use a room to sleep for a bit and then, Tony offered us the same room we had been to until 4.00 p.m. free! They also invited us for breakfast!!!

Breakfast again was really nice: fresh fruit, juices, cooked eggs… We loved the omelettes!!!.

By the way, we also went to Halong Bay following Tony’s suggestion and we went on the Hanoi Opera. It was amazing and should you have time and like the sea, I strongly recommend to spend two nights on the boat.

Tony, Anne, Tuin, everybody…many thanks for making our stay so special… we felt at home!

We had a really bad start with our stay at this hotel. We had emailed the hotel to advise that we would be coming straight from the Sapa train and would be arriving at 5am.
We arrived on a very windy and rainy morning to find the hotel chained up tight with a staff member asleep on the couch in the lobby. After much knocking and banging on the door, to no avail we directed the taxi to the only other hotel we could remember seeing,The Melia ( $325US). We returned to The Rising Dragon later that morning, but the staff could only offer sorry as an excuse. We had paid for our room some months earlier, but no refund was offered. We were already booked into this hotel after our trip to Halong Bay and we were really disappointed with the service, breakfast and quality of room.In saying that the rooms were quite large. We ended up leaving early even though we had already paid. If we hadn't had such great hotels previously we might have enjoyed the Rising Dragon 2,it certainly had some great reviews. If you aren't overly fussy with your accomodation this would be an ok hotel.

I booked 2 rooms at the Rising Dragon 2 for a trip to Hanoi with 5 of my extended family. For the price, this hotel is fantastic. It is far from being a luxury hotel, but is a great base to see the sights of Hanoi.
The only issue was upon check in, one of the rooms which had a balcony facing the street, the door to the balcony would not close properly and was making the room very cold, so we asked to change rooms and this was done with no questions asked.
Also, one of the other rooms was on the top floor which meant that you had to walk up the stairs as the lift did not go up to the top floor.
The breakfast was simple and the the location was ok, amongst the small streets of the old town and about a 15minute walk to the lake.
I believe that you usually get what you pay for, obviously there is nicer hotels in hanoi, but for this price range, i would definetely recommend the rising dragon 2 hotel.

An amazing oasis in a very busy city. The hotel is terrific - great amenities and first class, friendly staff who are always helpful, and treat you as part of the family. From the time of our arrival to our departure, when the staff came outside to wave us farewell in the taxi, they were so attentive to our wishes and so friendly! It was a pleasure to stay there. Wish it had been for longer. Very highly recommended.

Made to feel at home our whole stay, the hotel was exceptionally clean the rooms nicely presented and the beds very comfortable, takes time to get used to traffic noise but that is Hanoi. We read up on hotel and recommendation on trip advisor and what is written is not exaggerated but probably understated. We had lots of laughs and good tips provided by the generous, kindhearted team who made our stay a time we will not forget and we imagine will possibly not see the same service again in near future. Highly recommend as Hanoi can be overwhelming but this hotel made you feel at ease and able to enjoy the experience.
