The staff couldn't have been friendlier and more helpful. We left our bags at the hotel while we spent the night on Bai Tu Long Bay even though on our return we wouldn't be staying another night at the hotel. The breakfast was enough for us - choice of American (an egg & small piece of ham),& Continental,

This was the first hotel I and my dad were going to stay in Vietnam and we were not disappointed by the hotel and was impressed by most of the staff who were all welcoming and helpful.
We arrived coming from Ireland tired and exasperated and arrived into the hotel with a nice complementary drink and friendly staff greeting us. However my dad and I are light sleepers and we got a room very near to the street. (with a nice view though) We found it hard to sleep with the noise and the jet-lag as well. We moved rooms and got one with no window but peace and quiet. Win some Lose some. The breakfast was ok but the cereals always were stale but the rest was commendable. Special mention to Mary the manager who was very kind and even came with us to the pharmacy so we could by some medicine. Others would just have pointed it out where it was but she brought us there and was our translater. She also helped us arrange two tours. Her kindness and good meaning reflects on most off the staff too. Nice and adequate stay. Ciaran

I had initially booked another hotel - Holiday Gold Hotel. Unfortunately, there had been an error in my reservation, so the hotel I booked did not have my booking registered and it was fully booked!

However, very quickly I was transferred to Hanoi Charming Hotel, which I was very happy about. The room was a nice size - not too small. The mini-bar was very reasonably priced. The room was very clean.

Breakfast was very good. It was 'A la carte', so you could choose between continental breakfast (toast, butter, jam), American breakfast (eggs (choice of fried, scarmbled, boiled and omelet) with toast and butter) and vietnamese noodle soup with chicken of beef. All three choices inkluded fresh fruit, juice of the day and coffee/tee.

The location is great - the hotel is located in a quite street, but within walking distance of the west lake etc.

Last but definitely not least the staff was amazing! Never before have I been at a hotel where the staff was so helpful and attentive to there guests. They were always asking how my day had been etc. They were also very helpful in arranging tours (e.g. Halong Bay Tour).

I give the Charming Hotel Hanoi my warmest recommendations. It is real value for money, and the staff is absolutely wonderful.

We were welcomed with a huge smile and immediately shown to our rooms so that (under instruction of the staff) we cold relax, drink some tea, have a shower and then come back down once we felt we had recharged our batteries. The overall stay was fantastic, breakfast was great, rooms were spotless and you get a tv and computer in every room. We were even offered a room to dump our bags and have a shower when we arrived back from our cruise (not booked through hotel) whilst we had a 5hour wait for a train, simply because they thought the station was not a good place for us to wait. If i could return to Hanoi i would certainly come back to Charming and would recommend it to anybody. Just remember you are in the capital city of Vietnam and the view from your window might be a brick wall. This is very very normal for Hanoi.

Room Tip: Try get a room through the back as although your view is a wall, you have no chance of hearing the s...

We stayed for 5 nights over new year and it was great, the rooms were clean and comfortable with their own computer in. Breakfast was included and there was free tea and coffee in the room.

The best part of the stay was the staff who were really friendly, always happy to help and had pleanty of information.we aranged our halonng bay trip with them also and they took care of our bags while we were away.

All in all, really pleased and would happily go back.

We stayed here for six nights in a twin for 25$ per night including breakfast.
The room was clean and comfortable and also quiet.
The staff is really friendly and very competent.
Location is very central to a lot of different types of nightlife.
Breakfast is quite small but ok.
Thank you!

We stayed at Charming hotel for 6 nights in December.

We emailed back and forth with Mr. Duc to arrange airport travel. He was great! Super fast, super responsive.

In fact, everyone on staff was amazing. The service here was really top notch.

The room was basic. It was clean, it was nice. The bathroom could use an update, but hey, the water was hot, the towels were clean and the price was right. The wireless was spotty, but worked very well in the main area. There was some minor pronounced room noise. Actually, the most noise we heard was from the people who live across the road one night in what seemed to be a drunken domestic (clearly this is not the fault of the hotel).

The breakfast hotel was perfect. We had the pho many mornings.

I am typically sceptic about hotel recommendations but these guys were spot on.

The location was perfect. I really wanted an ‘old quarter experience’, and I feel like I got it.
Because we had a lot of time in Hanoi we decided to go and see Ha Long Bay. We chose Indochine Junk. It was totally worth it. The ride takes about 4 hours, but the van was very comfortable and air conditioned. Our boat was incredible. There were 7 people on the boat, great staff, and great food. The food was all safe for sensitive stomachs.

Overall, this hotel was great. Was it the Shangri-la? No.
Was it cost effective, clean, quiet enough and convenient? Yes.
Would I stay here again…YES.

Go in with a realistic expectation and you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Know that rooms with a city view will likely have a little bit of road noise. no biggie
