Description: Halia (or ‘ginger’ in the Malay language) began in the one-hectare Ginger Garden of the Singapore Botanic Gardens where over 250 species of gingers with their stunning foliage and colourful flowers thrive. In 2008, the Halia was officially opened in Hanoi. This is Halia’s first overseas outlet. In keeping with The Halia’s philosophy of creating memorable experiences through food, ambience and service, The Halia Hanoi focuses on the integral purpose of dining ~ pure pleasure. With that commitment in mind, The Halia brings to Hanoians a dining experience not found anywhere else in the capital. An intimate bar greets you upon entry where you can have a tipple or two before adjourning to the main dining room. Located just beside the scenic West Lake, the wide windows provides a majestic view of the water. Tuck into hearty and comforting signatures while being tended to by our warm and friendly servers. As you end your evening at the Halia, savour a night cap in our exclusive whisky den on the upper floor.

“Decent good resto”
Reviewed October 29, 2012

Came here on October 28th. Not so busy night. Food was average at best, service was very good. Price was a bit high but accepted.
I would think twice to make a come back.

“Great food”
Reviewed October 22, 2012 via mobile

The food was excellent.
We went for lunch and chose the 3 course set meal for 300,000D. This included a starter, main course and dessert.

All the dishes were scrumptious and nicely presented.

Service was good though the informal "friendly" chit chat was a little overdone and intrusive. We had to ask for some bread and water - this is usually offered as a courtesy in most restauants after sitting down.

Drinks were about 120,000D extra so with a fruit juice and coffee and the service charge the total was about 600000D each - (US30).

“great atmosphere and good service”
Reviewed October 21, 2012 via mobile

I came by last night after dinner. The waitress was really friendly and nice. She told us we can have a free cocktail because it is a special vietnamese day for woman (forgot what it is exactly called). Even I told her we would only be interested dessert she welcomed us in and made both of us a free drink :) I would like to try their lunch or dinner next time.

“Good food in out-dated location”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

They have very good food, service is great, but the ambiance isn't that nice. Everything feels a bit out-dated. On Friday night we were the only customers.

“Unforgettable experience”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

Was there on a quiet Tuesday night for dinner. All the staff were courteous, attentive and knowledgeable about the items on the menu. For starters, we ordered the pumpkin soup and risotto soja. Being one who doesn't usually fancy pumpkin soup, I felt that this one at Halia was surprisingly good! Ordered the Singapore chilli crab pasta and the paperbag-wrapped Alaskan black cod for mains and we were blown away by the freshness of the cod. This dish a definite must-try. The chilli crab pasta definitely did not disappoint as well, it was very well done - flavorful without being overpowering.

The wonderful culinary experience, coupled with the romantic setting from the dim glow of the chandelier made the dining experience unforgettable.
